Annual Base Salary: $100,000 to $155,000

Bonus Potential: $15,000

  • Overall compensation (base salary + discretionary bonus or commission if sales) for this role will be provided commensurate with years of experience and qualifications

Position

We are looking for a Chief of Staff to be a strategic and operating partner to the CEO and COO. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a successful startup, strong business acumen, and exceptional project management skills. Successful candidates are expected to provide key assistance and support in board and senior-level meetings, take part in key strategic projects, and be comfortable with interfacing with a variety of audiences internally and externally. This is a hybrid position expected to be in our HQ Oakland, CA office a minimum of one day a week. 

Responsibilities

  • Be a strategic and operating partner to the CEO and COO. Support and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously working closely with our CEO and COO, ensuring alignment across teams on goals, plans, and deliverables. Specifically, manage preparation, note taking, and follow up for Board, Executive Committee, Operating Committee and other senior-level meetings.
  • Managing priorities, metrics and execution. You’ll regularly assess progress on priority focus areas, re-prioritize initiatives as needed, as well as plan, monitor and reassess the key metrics that matter as the business model evolves.
  • Being a strategic sounding board. You’ll challenge our ideas and direction, to help us think outside the box and reach better outcomes. You’ll roll your sleeves up and lead deep-dives to help us answer key unknowns, and size business decisions and opportunities. You’ll quickly identify problems, and solve them efficiently and effectively.
  • Oversee daily operations. Performing an array of administrative tasks from managing calendars, taking meeting notes, generating and sharing out correspondence and executing on smaller tasks.
  • Proactive stakeholder engagement and communication. You will partner with the CEO on identifying, reaching out to and establishing meetings with key external partners, customers, and potential investors. You’ll take detailed notes and ensure next steps are allocated and executed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working in an operations, strategy, consulting or business management role
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or similar field - preferred, but not required
  • Some direct experience in a start-up environment, preferably through a cycle of funding or through an acquisition
  • Strong project management experience coordinating multiple stakeholders to deliver on goals
  • Highly process-oriented with experience developing systems and tools to ensure the business runs efficiently and effectively
  • Analytical problem solving and structured thinking, able to problem solve solutions for difficult situations and develop recommendations
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including building management presentations and drafting speaking notes, memos and executive communications
  • Low-ego with a willingness to jump into day-to-day tasks with excitement
