Position Overview

The Chief of Staff role at Autodesk is a strategic advisor, a lead organizer, a talented program manager, and a brilliant communicator. Reporting to the Vice President of Experience & Analytics in AEC Design, the successful candidate will be a highly strategic, analytical, organized, motivated and adaptable leader. Your ultimate goal is to enable the principal, the respective leadership team, and the functional team at large to operate at a higher level of performance. Your most powerful weapons are a strategic, big-picture mindset coupled with a stellar, can-do attitude. You'll be a pivotal player with broad impact. Tasked with using your creativity and initiative, you will tackle issues and resolve challenges, ensuring the team is well positioned to execute.

Responsibilities

  • Trusted Council - Partner closely with the principal as a strategic advisor and confidant, an extra set of hands, a proxy when the director is not available, an adept communicator, and an organizer to help manage priorities, projects, decisions, and actions
  • Experience & Analytics Leadership Team - by formulating and managing the team's strategic agenda, running staff meetings, identifying inspection topics and mechanisms for leadership staff; and ensuring a strong, candid team dynamic by creating an optimal environment for productive, professional dialogue. This could include team building sessions, organizational reviews, strategy discussions, and other topics for team meetings. Ability to simplify complex problems and streamline processes. Help us turn great ideas into formalized processes, programs, and policies
  • Design Operations - The Chief of Staff will manage our Design Operations Team that consists of program managers working across the Experience & Analytics organization. The focus here is leading DesignOps to drive business impact, design culture, and cross-team collaboration
  • Program Management - Lead special projects and programs. This includes key strategic initiatives that impact the overall success of the company as well as team culture initiatives to help support a healthy organization. Some projects will span beyond the scope of the group, requiring cross-company collaboration
  • Communication - Create and manage a team-wide communication plan to establish the right cadence and methods of communications. These can be internal team communications as well as communications out to the wider Autodesk organization. Support development of presentation content. Create and communicate internal message maps to key stakeholders, author internal communications bulletin emails, analyze employee feedback surveys on behalf of the VP

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years' experience working with product design teams
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience partnering effectively with cross-functional teams or projects
  • Ability to work across multiple functions - including Sales, Communications, and Finance, with working knowledge of Product, Engineering, Marketing, Legal, HR and Operations
  • Ability to effectively influence and communicate cross-functionally with all levels of management with exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective program management skills, with demonstrated ability to lead complex strategic and operational initiatives

Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $148,000 and $239,800. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
