The role
We are looking for a passionate, purpose-driven and growth-minded Chief Operating Officer. The Chief Operating Officer is the senior-most operations and business leader, aside from the CEO, in the ecosystem and will play a critical role in managing the day to day operations of the business, as well as the overall business growth and growth strategy.

A creative problem solver with a passion for collaboration and a keen interest in working with a team of multidisciplinary leaders to run, grow and build this business, as well as identify challenges and provide innovative solutions.
What you'll do
1. Primary responsibilities
- Serve as a key right-hand partner to the CEO
- Owner and driver of KPI’s, deadlines, processes and efficiencies. Drive and foster a culture of accountability.
- Work with the team leaders to identify and solve for bottlenecks
- Partner with CEO and other C-Suite leaders to ensure accountability and success of the organization
- Analyze our processes and implement systems across the organization that improve overall business performance
- Develop scalable operational strategies to support the company's expansion and adapt to dynamic market demands.
- Assess, optimize and lead key operational practices such as resource allocation and utilization tracking to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness
- Facilitate capability expansion and enhancement in partnership with CEO and fellow agency leaders
- Negotiations and procurement: Take the lead here on all client conversations with the goal of maximizing deals for the growth of our business
2. Manage the P&L
- Manage the co: P&L (consistent of three practices; Business and Brand, Org and Culture, and Experience), team utilization/staffing, and practice profitability based on all business goals (beyond just revenue), drive growth
- Champion agency-wide health tracking, including client and job P&L tracking, to maximize profitability and help facilitate healthy, profitable growth (in partnership with finance and client leadership)
- Work with the teams to successfully manage to revenue targets exceeding $18MM+
- Partner with our Growth team in new business proposals, including thinking, approach, staffing, etc.
- Assess, optimize and lead approach to proposal development and scoping to ensure timely, efficient, consistent and profitable job scoping
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial planning to ensure the company's resources are utilized effectively.
3. Nurture, develop and deploy a team of multi-disciplinary people
- Lead, grow, manage and inspire a co:re team of multi-disciplinary people, ensuring diverse representation on the team across multiple dimensions
- Create clear pathways for talent to develop their career within the co:re team
- Work with, inspire and lead cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
What you've done
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 15+ years of relevant experience, and a minimum of 10 years spent within the brand strategy, innovation, marketing or social impact spaces (consulting/agency side experience is vital, and client side experience a welcome extra)
- Previous experience as a COO with a proven track record of being a driver, and a capable accountability partner
- A deep passion for driving efficiency and operational improvement and experience with scaling agency operations
- Strong understanding of resource allocation and utilization models and methodologies, as well as agency workflows and strategies to optimize
- Sound financial understanding and acumen
- Proven experience supporting high-value business development opportunities and proposal development
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Capable change agent and ability to drive consensus
- Strategic orientation to operational leadership

We support different modes of working – be it hybrid, remote first or otherwise, and we are constantly experimenting with new approaches to ensure that the model we are working within is fulfilling to our teams and clients.
For those based in New York, we have an anchor day weekly. On Tuesdays, we ask that everyone comes to the office.
Although our team is hybrid, we prefer that this leader lives in or around the tri-state area. If you do not live in New York City you must be willing to travel to New York for one week per month for Business and Brand practice meetings, quarterly company gatherings, executive planning, and business development, as well as be comfortable traveling for new business and client meetings.
