Job Description

Minimum qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience in software development.
  • Experience investigating and troubleshooting technical issues and explaining solutions and workarounds to other developers.
  • Experience with web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, Javascript) and building and maintaining front-end codebases.
  • Experience working with APIs, such as Web Platform or browser.


Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience creating technical articles, demos, code samples, blog posts, videos, and/or presentations at conferences.
  • Experience building Chrome Extensions and using Chrome Extensions APIs.
  • Experience working with partner or enterprise development teams.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively.

Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Programs Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. Not afraid to be hands-on, you write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs and testing new features. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5 as well as our core Google Apps and Ads APIs are just some of the platforms you promote and support.

With your technical expertise, you drive strategy around fostering a community of developers who work with Google technologies. An ardent advocate for these developers, you represent their voice internally to our Product Managers and serve as their Google support in application development and technology implementation.

In this role, you will focus on helping Chrome extension partner developers in building and maintaining modern extensions on the Chrome platform. This includes investigating and troubleshooting issues developers are experiencing, building deep expertise on browser APIs and other features of the Chrome platform, and communicating solutions and best practices to developers through a variety of channels.

Additional Information
Minimum full-time salary range between $130,000 - $139,000 bonus equity benefits. *Note: Disclosure as required by sb19-085 (8-5-20) of the minimum salary compensation for this role when being hired into our offices in Colorado.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance to extension developers about best practices, bug resolution, and what topics on the roadmap might be relevant to them.
  • Drive adoption of extension capabilities by strategic partners and the developer community.
  • Become a trusted expert on browser API's, service workers, and other features of the Chrome platform, and serve as a compassionate and trusted point of contact for extension developers as a problem solver, educator, and advocate.
  • Influence Google developer product strategy by working with Product Management, Engineering, PR, Marketing, Business Development, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Highlight solutions to challenges developers in the ecosystem are facing by presenting at conferences, blogging, writing technical tutorials and other similar activities.
