Our facility in Burnet, TX is seeking a Continuous Improvement Project (CIP) Scientist with advanced knowledge of analytical chemistry and techniques applied to the characterization of complex mixtures. This knowledge is required to develop and improve analytical methods, provide support to the Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality groups via QC analysis. This opportunity allows the right person to expand their technical skill set and participate on a dynamic team in a growing organization.

The ideal candidate will be results oriented and an excellent team player, with solid knowledge of chemistry, materials science & physics, and familiarity with semiconductor device materials, structures, and analytical techniques.

What You'll Do:

• Identify and implement the best analytical testing methods, quality systems, validation processes and compliance practices for Analytical Operations
• Audit, troubleshoot, develop and validate analytical methods and testing practices to support continuous improvement activities
• Ensure Analytical Services and Quality SOPs are compliant with industry best practices
• Assure periodic enhancements and continuous improvement activities meet requirements of stakeholders
• Lead assessment, continuous improvement, and harmonization initiatives as needed and as assigned by senior leadership
• Experience leading implementation teams to ensure projects are delivered on time
• Prepare business cases supporting enhancements to testing equipment and secure funding for such projects
• Develop implementation strategies to ensure efficient kick off and utilization for key analytical and quality systems components
• Recommend capex for new equipment
• Supports internal and external audits, and proactively formulates plans and working groups to close gaps found from those audits
• Leads development of employees through training, meetings, and setting and achieving performance expectations
• Provide strategic expertise to development, deployment, and maintenance of global analytical quality systems processes and holds accountability for these decisions
• Drive reductions in the number and severity of complaints and excursions
• Assure systems are in place so that appropriate root cause analysis and corrective actions are taken to completely address any nonconformance or quality related excursion
• Train, coach and motivate personnel in the understanding and adoption of continuous improvement principles and techniques
• Drive the standardization of processes and the implementation of metrics and best practices
• Lead and influence change in a highly-matrixed, global organization

What We Seek:

• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Physics or Engineering required
• 5+ years of experience of operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining analytical instrumentation (HPLC, IC, GC, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS strongly preferred)
• Ability to influence and lead cross-functional cultural change and continuous improvements projects
• Highly motivated with ability to build and maintain productive relationships cross-functionally Knowledge of proper safe handling/disposal of chemicals and ability to maintain a clean and safe workspace
• An agent for change who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
• Experience with applicable quality tools such as pareto, FMEA's, SPC/SQC, histograms, trend analysis, process mapping, design of experiments, cause and effect diagrams, 8D problem solving methodology
• Experience with internal and external audits and developing plans to close gaps found during audits
• Demonstrated problem solving skills with a passion for learning and teaching
• Basic computer knowledge, including MS Office; LIMS experience preferred
• Strong independent operation skills and ability to complete lab work safely
• Ability to travel 5% of time, some international
• Be able to reach, squat, stoop and routinely lift up to 50lbs.
• Strong dexterity and good eye-hand coordination
• Be able to work on your feet for 7+ hours a day and perform repetitive hands-on tasks.
