This lead role is responsible for technical oversight, management, and mentoring the Circuit Card Assembly Design team. RESPONSIBILITIES
York Space Systems is seeking a talented and ambitious Electrical Design Engineer to continue our successful electrical design legacy and evolve our products and processes to stay ahead of our competition through innovative but pragmatic decision making. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the development of circuit card assemblies for a variety of electronic subsystems for use on a space vehicle.
- Collaborate with across engineering to ensure complete and robust development requirements and test plans for electrical system designs.
- Communicate with supply chain, purchasing and programs to support component and assembly procurement.
- Represent the team in design reviews, customer meetings, risk reviews etc.
- Ensure electrical systems risks are identified, captured, and mitigated.
- Lead and manage the Circuit Card Assembly Development team, ensuring delivery of cutting-edge solutions that are robust and reliable, while developing world class engineers in the process.
- Facilitate and create a culture of collaboration across engineering and production teams, driving relevant and timely communication around all key interfaces.
- Help organize and manage group knowledge, processes, and best practices.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Expertise in electronics design, PCB layout, and library management.
- Expertise in PCB assembly, manufacturing, and procurement.
- Experience in Power Supply, Motor Driver, and Instrumentation Design.
- Experience in High-Speed Digital Design including FPGAs and Microprocessor Systems.
- Experience with Signal and Power Integrity analysis and a strong understanding of the fundamental engineering concepts that govern these analyses and how to apply the results to improve product performance and reliability.
- Experience organizing, tracking, and deriving requirements and test plans.
- Experience organizing and mentoring an electrical design team.
- Experience with design verification using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, etc.
- EMI and EMC analysis and test and experience.
DESIRED TECHNICAL SPECIALTIES
- Experience testing large quantities of electronics, in-circuit testing, etc.
- Space-Based Electronics Experience:
- Understanding of space environment: Radiation, surface charging, thermal dissipation, outgassing, etc.
- Understanding of satellite subsystems, sensors, actuators, and communications.
- Familiarity with Altium Designer, Ansys SIwave, HyperLynx, SPICE, etc.
- Radio Frequency design, testing, and compliance.
- High-Speed Interfaces such as SERDES and DDR.
- Precision-timing distribution.
- Networking and Communications Architectures and Protocols.
- Processor system architectures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience in electrical system design and test.
- 3+ years of experience managing or leading an engineering team.
