About this Role
We’re looking for a Commercial Director to join Apeel’s growing Sales team. In this role, you’ll develop and execute the go-to-market strategy for Apeel’s citrus category throughout the Americas and other global markets. You will have a strong produce network, connections and industry knowledge as well as exceptional communication and leadership skills.
The Commercial Director will be responsible for developing sales strategies through a deep understanding of the market. You will lead the commercialization of our citrus category by collaborating with our internal teams to refine and commercialize our product, market fit and corresponding treatment processes. This position will report to the SVP Americas and will work remotely in the US. You can expect up to 50% travel to customer sites and retail locations, primarily across North America & some international travel to South America. We’re looking for someone to join our team immediately.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain relationships with key customers, retailers and suppliers, to achieve sales targets
- Will analyze market data to understand how the sales strategies are performing and to identify areas for improvement including using analytics tools to track sales trends, customer behavior, and other metrics
- Be responsible for financial performance and P&L management for our Citrus category including a focus on increasing sales volume, revenue per sale, program cost control and ensuring long-term customer retention.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, innovation, and operations, to ensure alignment and successful execution of business development initiatives
- Work closely with Apeel Labs in developing and commercializing new and upcoming commodities or products.
- Build a pipeline of new customers across various categories by fostering and developing relationships that will lead to future business opportunities
What You Bring
- 3+ years of experience working with produce category managers or related industry
- 10+ years of experience in sales, implementation, consulting, or solutions within a relevant field
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with retail organizations, including VP-level customers as well as store and warehouse teams
- Previous experience in account management within a sales, marketing, or implementation-type capacity
- Ability to design comprehensive programs considering the entire supply chain (consumer, retailer, supplier)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite. Must have the skills to create reports, presentations and manage complex spreadsheets
- Business level fluency in Spanish is preferred
