Located in West Central Ohio, Huber Heights (pop. 43,439) is an attractive city within Montgomery and Miami counties and is the third largest city in the Metro Dayton area. The Dayton region is not only rich in growth, but is also becoming diverse in its population. The City also has a strong military association, with 12.5% of Huber Heights' residents being veterans and many others either serving as active duty or civilian employees at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB); proximity to WPAFB; area military service organizations; the newly constructed Huber Heights Veterans Memorial; and Military and Veterans Commission.
The City of Huber Heights operates under a modified Council-Manager form of government that combines the political leadership of elected officials in the form of a Mayor and City Council, with the managerial experience of an appointed City Manager. The City Council consists of a Mayor and eight Councilmembers, with six Councilmembers representing six wards within the City of Huber Heights and two Councilmembers at-large. The Councilmembers are elected and serve four-year staggered terms. The Mayor serves a four-year term and is also elected at-large; the Mayor also serves as a non-voting Presiding Officer of the City Council.

Under the administrative direction of City Council, the City Manager serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the City; provides leadership with the development and execution of the City's strategic vision; provides highly responsible and complex policy support to the Council; directs the work of executive level managers and reviews overall operational performance; and exercises budgetary and contractual control over revenues and expenses for the City.
Compensation and Benefits
The current annual salary for this position is $175,000 and is negotiable dependent upon candidate qualifications and experience. A competitive benefits package is offered which includes fully paid medical insurance, HSA or HRA, dental, vision, life insurance, vacation, sick leave, and personal leave. The City Manager will participate in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System with a 14% employer contribution and a 9% employee contribution. The expectation of City Council is for the City Manager to reside within the City limits of Huber Heights consistent with the City Charter.
Desired Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, political science, business management, or a closely related field with a minimum of ten (10) years' progressively responsible experience in municipal administration, with city manager/city administrator experience preferred, and a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree and credentialed Manager through ICMA is preferred.
