The Democratic Party is committed to expanding opportunities for voting access and ensuring that every eligible voter can cast a ballot and have that ballot count. The right to vote is fundamental — it is the right that protects and expands all other rights. The Civic Engagement and Voter Protection department is a highly productive team at the DNC aggressively committed to these goals.


The Voter Protection Program Manager is an experienced and energetic voter protection professional who will be a driving force for developing and implementing the DNC’s internal programming. These programs include: the DNC National Voter Assistance Hotline, volunteer recruitment and engagement, and training. This person will ultimately oversee a team dedicated to these tasks.


Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Oversee the DNC CEVP’s voter education efforts, including the national voter education hotline, production of voter education materials, and overseeing our Volunteer Research Manager and Volunteer National Voter Assistance Hotline Manager.
  • Oversee DNC CEVP’s training and resources programs, including producing presentations, templates, best practices, and other resources that help guide state teams.
  • Help manage the overall workflow of the department, ensuring that all work is being completed and that the team is functioning cohesively
  • Utilize organizing techniques to accomplish voter protection goals, which may include working with volunteers, training volunteers and staff, and developing voter education programs; 
  • Develop programs, produce reports, and translate research and data findings developed at the national-level into products that are useful to state voter protection and organizing teams;
  • Represent the department and the DNC when necessary for programming and events;
  • Collaborate with internal DNC departments and external partners to ensure the seamless coordination and execution of planned projects; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission.

  • Strong problem solving acumen, with demonstrated ability to identify issues quickly, analyze problems, and determine effective solutions. 
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and situations to fit short and long-term organizational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Prior regional, deputy, state, or national voter protection staff experience or at least 1-3 years of experience working on voter protection or related electoral issues; experience interpreting laws, policies and procedures is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced organization. 
  • Knowledge of and experience working with national, state and local organizational stakeholders engaged in electoral strategies and programs.
  • Proficiency and comfort with LBJ, VAN/Votebuilder, and Google Workspace.
  • Strong commitment and passion in advancing the Democratic agenda, strengthening the Democratic Party, and winning elections.

The Civic Engagement and Voter Protection Program Manager position will require travel, which could be up to 15% of the time.


The starting salary for the Civic Engagement and Voter Protection Program Manager position is $75,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends, and has an end date of November 15, 2024.
