We provide these solutions by enabling aligned data-driven decisions, delivering objective analysis, and influencing business strategy.

About You

A successful Business Insights Intern at Nationwide has:

Education

• Undergraduate studies in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Math, Insurance, Information Systems, Business Management or a related field of study
• Completion of sophomore or junior year is preferred
• Involvement in student activities and/or some work experience
• 3.0 GPA or higher is desired

Skills/Competencies

• Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal and external contacts
• Working knowledge of Excel, Tableau
• Ability to code using SAS or SQL
• Natural curiosity and ability to ask probing questions
• Knowledge of statistical analysis
• Ability to excel in a dynamic, changing and sometimes ambiguous environment
• Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment
• Natural curiosity to explore and question
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; SQL or Tableau is preferred

Job Summary

A day in the life of a Business Insights Intern might include:

• Analyzing large data sets to make or influence strategic business decisions with guidance.
• Presenting insightful recommendations, presentations, reports, and documents to help with the use of data and information extracted.
• Applying appropriate quantitative techniques and methods to help resolve business problems.
• Completing tasks involving data science, business reports, and ad-hoc analysis.
• Retrieving data from internal and external sources and data files to keep databases current and usable.
• Demonstrating willingness to be engaged and try new things.
• Participating in department and company meetings.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
