The Product & Performance Team monitors growth, profit, business mix, and pricing levels to communicate and support the execution of complex strategies to business partners across Nationwide.

As a member of the Product & Performance Team you will support Product leaders and associates across Standard Commercial Lines with insight and analysis on state and regional trends.

This team delivers data driven solutions by analyzing data and performing root cause analysis; supports the build and development of key tools and resources; serves as a single point of contact for Field Product with other business units; and supports profitable growth strategies through analysis, insights, and influence.

Job Summary

A day in the life of a Product Intern might include:

  • Analyze product, line of business, and/or state/region performance at various levels
  • Identify performance and profitability drivers and develop recommendations and solutions
  • Consult with business partners regarding analysis, ideas, and business performance
  • Analytics tool support/development
  • Analyze large data sets to make or influence strategic business decisions
  • Participate in assignments, meetings, and presentations with peers and business partners

About You:

A successful Field Product Intern at Nationwide has:

Education

  • Undergraduate studies in Data Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, Math, Insurance, Actuarial Science, Information Systems, Business Management, or a related field of study
  • Completion junior year is preferred
  • Involvement in student activities and/or some work experience
  • 3.0 GPA or higher is desired

Skills/Competencies

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal and external contacts
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Tableau
  • Ability to code using SAS, SQL, R, and/or Python
  • Natural curiosity and ability to ask probing questions
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic, changing and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment
  • Natural curiosity to explore and question
