This position will be responsible for the investigation and resolution of lower complexity and lower exposure claims. Under general supervision, this position will be able to manage a full claim workload with limited oversight and will be responsible for making sound decisions within delegated authority. Adheres to Fair Claims Practices regulations in states where applicable.. Minimal travel required.

  • This position will be responsible for handling healthcare matters;
  • Handle non-litigated bodily injury or property damage claims with anticipated value of $75,000 or less in all jurisdictions;
  • Handle master claim files for high attaching excess and reinsurance matters, by reviewing notices and coordinating and assisting senior claims specialists in account review activities
  • Confirms coverage of claims by reviewing policies and documents submitted in support of claims
  • Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions
  • Ability to draft coverage position letters involving date of loss outside applicable policy period and more significant coverage issues. Will not be responsible for handling claims involving complex coverage issues;
  • Identify losses which should be reported to SIU.
  • Conducts, coordinates, and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of damages
  • Evaluates information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine the extent of insured's exposure
  • Sets reserves within authority or makes recommendations concerning reserve changes to manager
  • Negotiates and settles claims within authority of up to $75,000
  • Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information
  • Participates in special projects or assists other team members as requested
  •   Provides excellent and professional customer service to insureds while maintaining a high level of production
  • Ability to serve as a mentor to entry level associates;
  • As necessary will attend local mediations.

Certification

  • Adjusters’ license or legal license in at least one jurisdiction

Work Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of claims handling (or equivalent work) experience

Skill Sets

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Power Point Word)
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong desire for continuous improvement
