Job Description

The Client Service Specialist position is an exciting new opportunity to support a newly created public fund client at Northern Trust.

This newly created entity is a first of its kind client for Northern Trust. The client is comprised of 296 municipalities that convert into a single entity at the state level once fully transitioned into Northern Trust.

The Client Service Specialist will serve as primary contact for the member funds (municipalities), in a call center like capacity. While not dealing with any member fund direct inquiries, the primary responsibilities will be oversite of different operational and client servicing tasks.

The role specializes and manages important client servicing administrative and relationship needs of this client. In this role, you will maintain and develop client and partner relationships while exploring opportunities to streamline specialized processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manages the administrative and relationship needs of institutional trust clients such as: open accounts, close accounts, fees, etc.
  2. Primary responsibilities will be oversite of daily cash movement, daily cash reconcilement, researching and resolving any cash breaks. Identification of cash contributions from member funds will also be a regular task.

  4. General maintenance of contact and logon information will be required as member fund turnover will dictate. Conducting or arranging ongoing user trainings will also be required for all member funds for GCM, Passport, and other general system access
  5. Other daily support of the two CSMs on this relationship will be required as needed.
  6. Maintains and develops partner and client relationships exploring opportunities to streamline fees, account opening and training on tools for clients. Partner with other NT areas.
  7. Cultivates strong working relationships with partners in various Institutional Investor Group (IIG) segments and with client contacts. Demonstrates ability to add value by anticipating possible solutions.
  8. Coordinates with servicing team on execution of client activity, communicating with client and vendors as appropriate.
  9. Responds to inquiries from clients and partners, and coordinates client activity in regards to assigned specialized functions.
  10. Works with internal partners throughout the bank to facilitate implementation of solutions to meet or exceed client needs.
  11. Documents specialized procedures, and on-going written communication with partners and clients in managing daily activity.
  12. Develops complete understanding of the assigned specialized functions in order to meet or exceed client's business, objectives, goals, and market challenges to ensure they are compatible with the bank's market strategy.Considered a subject matter expert (SME) in the assigned specialized client servicing functions

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of work experience in the financial industry
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of institutional trust operations and client servicing, usually acquired through related experience.
  • General business knowledge and knowledge of acquired through coursework are required to oversee client transactions.
  • Analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills are required to identify and resolve issues of the assigned specialized activities.
