Position Overview
The Clinical Laboratory Quality Control (QC) Associate performs and functions within the Technical Laboratory under the guided direction of the Supervisor, Clinical Laboratory Quality Control Lead, or designee. In this support position, the Clinical Laboratory QC Associate ensures daily QC operations are effective and efficient by coordinating with leadership to anticipate and resolve issues related to efficiencies in quality control, and laboratory processes.

Essential Duties
include but are not limited to the following:
- All assigned job duties are performed following laboratory policies and procedures.
- Identifies errors and problems, and assists in troubleshooting web lab metrics.
- Reviews and approves QC metrics for NGS, and prepares monthly reports for medical director.
- Assists QC Supervisor in ensuring that all section turn-around times are maintained.
- Assists the QC Supervisor and QC Lead by answering questions, following up on concerns and providing guidance to coworkers.
- Assigns and organizes work priorities under the direction of the QC Supervisor and QC Lead. Coordinates general workflow in assigned area daily to ensure workload is satisfied.
- Works with Laboratory Supervisors to ensure lot to lot testing and acceptability of samples within guidelines.
- Works cross-functionally to ensure critical reagent documentation is appropriately maintained.
- Prepares QC reports for NGS data deliverables.
- Performs patient report review as indicated by SOP.
- Performs patient testing as needed.
- Maintains ethical standards in the performance of testing and in interactions with patients, coworkers and other health care professionals.
- Assists with knowledge transfer of changes and additions to laboratory procedures, processes and policies, including methodology and instrument operation.
- May be requested to give presentations or provide demonstrations, provide technical information and/or instruction to new employees and peers as requested and where appropriate.
- Remains informed of procedure updates and changes and demonstrates knowledge and competency regarding changes.
- Supports and complies with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
- Maintains open and effective communication with personnel in work team, and with members of other teams throughout the laboratory.
- Demonstrates professional demeanor, in personal appearance and behavior, in all work-related interactions inside and outside of the laboratory. Demonstrates adaptability by embracing changes in the laboratory with a positive attitude.

- Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds for approximately 25% of a typical working day.
- Ability to walk, bend and reach for up to 100% of a typical working day.
- Ability to work seated for approximately 50% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 50% of a typical working day.
- Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.
- Ability to listen and speak on the telephone and write simultaneously.
- Ability to operate telephone system and computer keyboard and mouse.
- Vision: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as read and perform lab tests.
- Hearing: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as hear timer alarms, etc.
- Speaking: Strong ability to perform the essential functions of the job such as communicating with staff, patients, colleagues and providers.
- Dexterity: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job including operating a computer.
- Mental Demands: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job such as the stress of working in a high-throughput testing laboratory with tight deadlines.
- Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology or in the chemical or biological sciences which includes a minimum of 6 chemistry credits, 6 biology credits and a combined total of 24 credits in chemistry and biology.
- 1+ years of experience in a laboratory setting, including experience performing, reviewing and understanding quality control on a routine basis.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of molecular diagnostic laboratory experience with a focus in NGS.
- 2+ years of relevant experience within a technical laboratory.
- Appropriate certification from one of the nationally recognized certification agencies, i.e. ASCP or state licensure that has been determined to be equivalent.
Salary Range:
$50,000.00 - $81,000.00
The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - AZ - Phoenix on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
