Headway is building a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access. We make it easy for people to find quality in-network mental health care by removing historic barriers faced by mental health providers, payers, and patients. 

1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but the vast majority do not get the care they need. The primary reason is cost: the majority of therapists do not accept insurance, meaning paying for therapy is prohibitively expensive for prospective patients. This is where we got our start – Headway has built the first software-enabled network of therapists who accept health insurance, making it easy for therapists to grow their practices, and possible for patients to find quality care they can afford. 

We launched in April of 2019 and are now powering 400,000+ appointments per month. To scale our vision, we’ve raised over $100 million in funding from a16z, Thrive, Accel, and Google Ventures.

About The Role

As Clinical Lead of Clinician Education, your mission is to build a Headway Clinical Education and Certification program at scale that reinforces clinical best practices, is based in evidenced based research, and improves overall compliance and outcomes. You will help to build and  curate a program that meets criteria for CE/CME/CEUs and that supports the needs of a diverse array of clinician licenses and backgrounds. You will create educational modules to support onboarding providers. The Clinical Lead of Clinician Education will work closely with Headway researchers to ensure educational content is based on evidence and data obtained from the Headway provider network. You will work to identify gaps in knowledge or expertise within the Headway network and help to create or identify existing trainings that could address those gaps. You will work closely with the Clinical Lead of Engagement to help build targeted educational activities that build a sense of community and support.   

As the only tech-enabled behavioral health Managed Services Organization (MSO) built with entirely in-house software, Headway has an unprecedented opportunity in the clinical space. Today, we support more than 20k Clinicians and hundreds of thousands of patients. Building an educational and engagement program will impact clinicians and patients nationwide.

You’ll be great for this role if:

  • You are a clinician – have 3+ years of experience as a psychiatrist , LICSW, licensed therapist, or a PhD with experience both as a practicing provider as well as operating in a fast-paced, high growth business. Bonus points if you have experience as a Lead in a start-up environment
  • You are a thought leader –  with demonstrated passion for reimagining how behavioral health quality is defined, measured, and operationalized. This likely means you’ve worked in health plans, health systems, and / or value-based healthcare startups.
  • You are a collaborator – eager and adept at working in concert with product, operations, and sales teams to infuse clinical strategy across the org.
  • You are an educator -  have at least 1 to 2 years of experience creating or curating educational content
  • You are a problem solver - have at least 1 year of experience working in a fast-paced environment that required solution focused thinking and quick problem solving.
  • You are a researcher - comfortable with identifying evidenced based information, literature, and trainings that could be incorporated into adult learning programs. 

You Will:

  • Under the supervision of Head of Medical and Clinical Strategy, lead the Headway Clinician Education Program
  • Conduct frequent literature searches to ensure Headway is sharing the most current treatment recommendations and evidence 
  • Work Directly with Provider Experience team to build programs and opportunities for increased clinician engagement through education
  • Develop CME/CEU program 
  • Develop Headway Certification Program
  • Lead/build webinar/interactive learning modules 
  • Build onboarding training program 
  • Create targeted learning modules for identified providers or groups of providers
  • Work cross functionally with engineering and design teams to build interactive, tech enabled, educational programming 
  • Work closely with the Headway research team and payers to identify specific patient needs and potential areas for expanded content and learnings to support the delivery of evidence based interventions
