Closing Analyst

Arena Investors, LP ("Arena") is a global investment management firm that seeks to generate attractive risk adjusted, consistent and uncorrelated returns by employing a fundamentals based, asset-oriented financing and investing strategy across the entire credit spectrum in areas where conventional sources of capital are scarce. Arena specializes in off-the-run, stressed, distressed, illiquid and esoteric special situation transactions through originations and acquisitions of asset-oriented investments across a wide array of asset types (including but not limited to private direct corporate credit, commercial real estate bridge lending, and commercial and consumer assets)

This role will assist with pre-closing due diligence, loan closing process, post-closing surveillance and servicing of a national commercial real estate credit portfolio. Primary responsibilities include working with the front office team to complete due diligence analysis and facilitate the closing process. Additionally, the candidate is expected to evaluate ongoing servicing requests, maintain portfolio monitoring and loan level reporting. In addition to interacting with external stakeholders including brokers, borrowers, servicers, attorneys, this role provides exposure to internal asset management staff and the opportunity to work collaboratively with the real estate credit team on all phases of the investment process.

Responsibilities:

• Actively work with the team to close commercial real estate investments by coordinating the closing process with all internal and external parties, including brokers, borrowers, appraisers, engineers, attorneys, and title companies, as well as with internal treasury and asset management teams.
• Maintain the loan closing checklists and confirm that all closing conditions have been met.
• Assist originators to analyze and evaluate opportunities, Borrower and Guarantor level due diligence information to identify potential concerns, and recommend appropriate solutions, The Analyst shall be able to review appraisal, environmental, property condition and other third-party reports as well as work with in-house and outside counsel on the review of transaction financing documents.
• Review funding and servicing requests for approval.
• Participate in the monitoring of the commercial real estate loan portfolio:
• Prepare internal asset management reporting
• Assist on payoffs, assumptions, and modification requests.
• Transmit loan information to the loan servicers and internal accounting to support accurate servicing and reporting of loans.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in real estate, finance, or related field
• Typically a minimum one to five years of related experience.
• Professional experience through work in commercial real estate as a commercial mortgage servicer, loan closer or other hands-on relevant experience preferred.
• Knowledge of real estate finance and market fundamentals and valuation principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively resolve moderately complex situations and issues.
• Must be results oriented with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external individuals.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
