Abrigo is looking for a hands-on Cloud Architect. The Cloud Architect must have a strong background in high-growth companies and is passionate about technology advancement and innovation. The Cloud Architect will ensure the performance, stability, and reliability of inherently complex and integrated systems, including applications, and cloud platforms that will support Abrigo's various businesses. This person will support our internal and external customers by designing a highly available, scalable, and cost-efficient environment. This person will be responsible for optimizing and standardizing Cloud Architecture and working with Cloud Security teams and processes to align with the overall technology strategy and direction.
The Cloud Architect will report to the Vice President, Cloud Operations and will work closely with the application development teams and infrastructure shared services teams as well as other stakeholders to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology cloud solutions.
This position will be based in Raleigh, NC, Austin, TX, or remotely.
What You'll Do:
- Develop a rigorous technology architecture, leverage cloud services and automation to enable business strategies and ensure public and private cloud solutions are optimized for cost and functionality.
- Develop and drive the cloud computing strategy along with the introduction of new emerging technologies and public cloud services, cloud adoption plans, cloud application design, and cloud management and monitoring strategies.
- Mentor and work with senior and junior developers and architects to bring them up to speed on cloud architectures including modern programming languages, microservices and container-based deployments.
- Provision cloud infrastructure and cloud foundation in AWS and Azure to meet application demands.
- Translate complex ideas, technology, and programs into language IT management can relate to and be a key influencer on technical decisions.
- Demonstrate knowledge in public and hybrid cloud architecture, networking, workload types, migration patterns, and tools.
- Architecting and implementing Cloud infrastructure and foundation elements as well as automation to enable standardized hosting of applications in the cloud.
- Build cloud foundation to establish necessary building blocks for delivering infrastructure.
- Cloud user management, security, and capacity, monitoring and configuring application development tools.
- Provide solution architecture and support issue resolution for cloud infrastructure delivery by working closely with application and other teams.
- Analyze existing on-premise application landscapes to implement refactoring or rebuilding major application initiatives in Cloud.
- Identify and partner with Infrastructure teams and AD teams to implement automation opportunities to eliminate inefficiencies and reduce technical debt.
- Design and develop a generic policy framework for cloud, client deployment including but not limited to client Security policies IAM roles access authorization, and access levels on client applications with hands on AWS VM deployments/Azure VM, ELB, Firewall, EC2, EBS, Auto scaling/Scale sets, Cloud trial, log analytics, AWS Config/Azure automation & control, cloud watch, Azure monitor, S3 &RDS/Azure databases or other similar Azure components.
- Design and develop automation toolchain configuration templates and deployment strategy with hands on design, Docker/Kubernetes micro service development, and architecture for automatically deploying production deployments.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelors in computer science or equivalent years of experience
- AWS and Azure Solution Architecture certifications preferred
- 5+ years' experience leading complex Engineering and Cloud Architecture initiatives
- Ability to re-architect for cloud platforms in a highly technical organization with an understanding of app & data architectures and cloud-native patterns for development
- Strong understanding of infrastructure architecture disciplines and general knowledge on application and data architecture
- Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) philosophy, Chaos Engineering, technologies, platforms and tools, SLA management, incident resolution, and automation
- Prior experience in products/platforms where uptime and continuous availability is core to the business
- Understanding of Networking and cloud technologies (Security, Load Balancing, Network routing protocols)
- In-depth understanding for on boarding applications onto IaaS, PaaS and SaaS offerings, deployment automation, DevOps, scripting, containers and cloud
- Ability to automate infrastructure and build pipelines for continuous integration and continuous deployment
- Ability to design high availability applications on cloud across availability zones and availability regions
- Deep understanding of cloud design patterns, cloud operations, and cloud cost
models with hands-on ability to implement best practices or suggest - Ability to design applications on AWS/Azure across multiple regions by taking advantage of disaster recovery design guidelines
- Knowledge of application deployment, infrastructure setup, and data migration on AWS/Azure resources
- Knowledge of monitoring, logging and cost management tools that integrate with AWS/Azure to design the optimized workloads and platforms
- Knowledge of software design patterns (microservices, messaging, serverless distributed and Systems Integrations architectures)
- Experience in architecting infrastructure solutions using both Linux/Unix and Windows with specific recommendations on server, load balancing, HA/DR, & storage Architectures
- Experience with container orchestration preferred
- Experience working with cloud automation tools such as AWS CloudFormation and/or Terraform
