The Cloud Architect, Enterprise Architecture will act as an Architect to help support Alkermes digital transformation. The Cloud Architect will be a key member of the IT Enterprise Architecture team that will serve often as the primary technical lead, as well as architect for cloud related solutioning, standards, and developing and integrating emerging technologies. This role will be a liaison between the IT organizations, business, and external vendors. In addition, this individual will contribute to and support related business and systems initiatives, from a technical perspective. This position will report to the Director IT, Enterprise Architecture and will be a hybrid 3/days per week in our office in Waltham, MA.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

• Serve as an architect, often leading for the design and implementation of cloud systems and solutions.
• Design and participate in cloud-related proof-of-concept and innovation efforts.
• Design solutions that ensure maximum flexibility and scalability, while meeting all required security controls.
• Significantly contribute to the team in supporting the development of all required technical documentation necessary to support the administration, engineering, security, and supporting operational processes.
• Provide technical support in the development of SOPs and processes associated with knowledge transfer to operations providers.
• Perform business and technical alternative analysis for any/all aspects of the solution, aiding the customer in making decisions along the way.
• Significantly participate with the technical team in innovation by holding knowledge sharing sessions to continue to advance the awareness and talent of the team.
• Lead and participate in proof-of-concept efforts.
• Actively seek and gain sufficient understanding of emerging technologies necessary to facilitate Alkermes IT goals.
• Serve on Architectural Review Board to partner with various project teams to ensure solution designs are in accord with Alkermes IT standards and company objectives.
• Perform technical reviews and create solution profiles for Architectural Review Boards.

Qualifications

Basic Qualificaitons/Required Knowledge and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management, mathematics, statistics, biostatistics, business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 5-7+ years of technology experience, preferably in Life Sciences or within a regulated environment
• 4+ years' experience with cloud solutions / architecture
• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud. AWS and Azure preferred.
• Working knowledge of DevOps processes, code deployment automation, and related technologies (GIT, ansible, etc.). Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code a plus.
• Experience designing and documenting architecture solutions and support for strategic initiatives across the enterprise.
• Experience designing and delivering large-scale solutions, most of which have advanced to the production state.
• Solid understanding of data driven solutions, helping mission customers achieve enhanced capability through the analysis of data, or by implementing systems that with these capabilities.
• Solid understanding of Generative AI concepts and related technologies (Large Language Models, Prompt Engineering).

Preferred Technical Skills and Qualifications:

• A commitment to continual learning and a desire to stay current with emerging technologies and fundamental shifts in the IT industry.
• Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure Cloud Architect Certification (or equivalent).
• Strong grasp of cloud computing SaaS, PaaS and IaaS fundamentals with experience designing and implementing solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, ServiceNow, Microsoft Co-Pilot, Large Language Models
• Experience with continuous integration/team development approaches and implementations.

TRAVEL

• Hybrid 2-3 days/week or onsite in Waltham, MA
