Your future role within QRT:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cloud Architect with deep expertise in AWS technologies to join our Quantitative Development Team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in enhancing the quantitative research capabilities of the desk by designing and implementing highly customized AWS architectures. This will support the development of sophisticated research models, data analytics, and innovative trading strategies. The role requires close collaboration with quantitative developers, researchers, and other technical teams to create scalable, secure, and optimized cloud infrastructures tailored to the evolving needs of the desk.

• Design and implement custom AWS architectures to enhance the quantitative research and modelling processes of the desk.
• Collaborate with quantitative researchers, developers, and data scientists to understand their needs and translate them into scalable, flexible, and secure cloud solutions.
• Ensure the optimal performance, availability, and reliability of cloud infrastructure to support high-performance quantitative research and large-scale data analysis.
• Automate infrastructure deployment, management, and monitoring to streamline research operations and enable rapid prototyping.
• Develop robust security and compliance frameworks in accordance with industry standards and best practices for cloud architecture.
• Continuously review and optimize cloud systems to ensure scalability, cost efficiency, and alignment with research and trading objectives.
• Stay up to date on AWS services, tools, and best practices to improve cloud infrastructure and support research innovation.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members on cloud architecture best practices, particularly in the context of quantitative research.

Your present skillset:

• 8+ years experience as a Cloud Architect or Engineer with a strong focus on AWS technologies.
• In-depth knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, and others.
• Experience in designing highly available, resilient, and secure cloud solutions for research or finance environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud security practices, encryption, and governance.
• Familiarity with DevOps principles and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.) and serverless architecture.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to design solutions for complex research and data challenges.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse technical and research teams.
• AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, etc.) are a plus.
• Experience in the finance, trading, or quantitative research domains is preferred.
• Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) environments, large-scale data processing workflows, and machine learning frameworks.
