Our Cloud Architect - GCP/GKE will play a crucial role in our Customer Reliability Engineering team in North America. This position offers remote work opportunities across North America, with a strong preference for the West Coast timezone (PST or MST).

The Opportunity

We work closely with our customers, offering hands-on guidance, mentoring, advice, and solutions to ensure they fully unlock the potential of cloud technology.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and troubleshoot large-scale, production-ready distributed systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), selecting the right tools to address business challenges at scale.
• Design, build, and test cloud-native applications on GCP, with a specific emphasis on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
• Maintain an extensive knowledge of cloud-related technologies and articulate best practices.
• Optimize GKE workloads and implement effective workload management strategies.
• Implement logging and monitoring for GKE using tools like Stackdriver or other container monitoring solutions.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in cloud and container solutions such as Kubernetes (k8s), GKE, and Anthos.
• Experience in deploying GKE Private/Public Clusters with a focus on deployment best practices.
• Strong understanding of Google IAM, RBAC, and Workload Identity for Kubernetes and GKE.
• Expertise in GKE node labeling/tagging strategies to support asset management objectives.
• Proficiency in Cluster and Pod Security and Policies.
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment tools and processes.
• Experience with Deployment Manager, Terraform, or similar tools for deploying and managing GKE and Anthos (Infrastructure as Code).
• Collaboration experience with developers and platform engineers, contributing to architecture and continuously optimizing infrastructure to enhance automation.
• Scripting skills with shell scripts and one or more of the following languages: Java, Python, Go, or JavaScript.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
