Job Description

Tau Six, an agile small company delivering cutting edge cybersecurity and systems integration services to the US National Security market, has an immediate need for a Cloud Architect. In this role you have the opportunity to guide national security customers in their migration and adoption of cloud technologies, integrate innovative technologies, and design secure cloud solutions.

The Cloud Architect plays a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing cloud solutions across multiple accounts and platforms, in accordance with Department of Defense and Intelligence Community cloud initiatives. This is a pivotal role within Tau Six and will ensure the effective, efficient, and secure provisioning of commercial cloud services to customer programs. The Cloud Architect is responsible for both the technical aspects of cloud architecture as well as administrative tasks related to billing and cost optimization. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Microsoft Azure and AWS platforms, along with a deep understanding of cloud best practices, security requirements, and emerging technologies.

Clearance Required: Top Secret / SCI U.S. Government Clearance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Architecture Design: Design and implement scalable, secure, and compliant cloud architectures on both Microsoft Azure and AWS platforms, tailored to meet the unique requirements of U.S. Government Department of Defense and Intelligence Community cloud initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into architectural blueprints.
  • Technical Implementation: Lead the implementation of cloud solutions, ensuring adherence to strict security and compliance standards. Configure and deploy cloud services, virtual networks, storage, compute, databases, and identity management solutions, following industry best practices and government regulations.
  • Multi-Account Management: Manage multiple cloud accounts across Microsoft Azure and AWS platforms, including those specific to U.S. Government customers. Monitor resource utilization, optimize costs, and implement governance policies to ensure compliance with government regulations and security requirements.
  • Billing and Cost Optimization: Manage cloud billing and expenses across multiple accounts, including U.S. Government contracts. Identify cost-saving opportunities, implement budgeting strategies, and optimize resource utilization to maximize ROI while adhering to government procurement regulations.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement robust security controls and compliance measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with government regulations, including FedRAMP and DoD requirements. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and mitigate security risks, working closely with government stakeholders and security teams.
  • Documentation and Training: Create comprehensive documentation, including architectural diagrams, security documentation, and compliance reports, to support government audits and certifications. Provide training and mentorship to team members to enhance their understanding of government cloud initiatives and security requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in cloud architecture, with a focus on Microsoft Azure and AWS platforms.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Government Department of Defense and/or Intelligence Community cloud initiatives, with a strong understanding of government security and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Familiarity with government-specific cloud services and frameworks, such as AWS GovCloud and Azure Government.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across government stakeholders and security teams.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert and AWS Certified Solutions Architect, as well as government-specific certifications such as Security+ or CISSP, are highly desirable.
  • Active Top Secret / SCI U.S. Government Clearance Required
