Cloud Automation Engineer
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement automation for common operational tasks
- Build and maintain Terraform modules & Sentinel policies
- Help the development team with deployment strategy and capacity planning across development, QA, staging and production environments
- Work with the development team to deploy and manage tools that support SDLC automation, configuration management and release management
- Build and maintain systems that will monitor all aspects of the application and the infrastructure
- 3+ Years of experience in Computer Science, DevOps, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent degree
- Must be very comfortable working and communicating with both developers and system administrators
- Strong working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code concepts
- Enjoy learning and applying new technologies and enabling other teams to move faster
- Willing and able to communicate automative concepts and processes to stakeholders
- Able to deliver work incrementally to get feedback and iterate over solutions
- Proficiency in an object-oriented programming language such as Go, Python or Ruby in addition to PowerShell, YAML and JSON
- Proficiency with at least one configuration management solution (Chef, Puppet, Ansible etc)
- Experience working with Terraform and/or Terraform Cloud
- Experience working with REST APIs and interacting with data
- Experience working with at least one of the large cloud providers: AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines
- Understanding of infrastructure automation solutions
- Experience writing HCL for TF modules, Sentinel Policies, designing IaC environments using Terraform
- Ability to define, build and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Github Actions
- Experience working with PowerBI (ETL, reporting, UI)
- Understanding of deployment strategies; Canary, Blue-Green, Rolling etc
- Experience with automated testing solutions for unit testing, integration testing and system testing
- Experience managing a Chef configuration management environment and updating cookbooks/recipes
- Understanding and experience operating in an agile development environment
- Ability to conceptualize, design & deliver whole solutions
- Knowledge of administrative best practices for application servers, database servers and 3rd party appliances
- Understanding of strategies for providing high availability and security
- Working familiarity with containerization, including orchestration
- Experience developing with database systems, NoSQL preferred (ideally cloud managed solutions)
- Experience with Jira and Confluence
- Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills (both technical and non-technical)
- Excellent problem-solving and creative thinking skills
- Success in a remote work environment
- Optional certifications are a plus: Terraform Associate Certification, Microsoft Azure/AWS Solutions Architect or Microsoft Azure/AWS DevOps Solutions

The reasonable estimate, if hired in Colorado, is $110,000-$135,000. Please note this information is specific to those hired in Colorado. If this role is open to candidates outside of Colorado, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate's starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
