Cloud Data Architect

The Role

Paro is hiring a highly motivated Principal Cloud Data Architect to join our team. As the Principal Cloud Data Architect at Paro you will lead the technical implementation, and maintenance of Paro’s next generation cloud data infrastructure which currently powers our analytics platforms and our AI/ML solutions. You will be crafting cloud data usage patterns with a strong focus on microservices and help develop frameworks to productize our ML/AI solutions. The ideal candidate is results-driven, able to break down complex problems and always strives to innovate.

What you will do

• Lead the organizational and technical direction of our current and future online data technologies
• Design data models based on reporting, analytics, data science requirements and visualization needs in PowerBI
• Review and provide feedback for all load processes including the use of third-party ELT tools (FiveTran, Apache Airflow)
• Utilize industry leading third-party ETL/ELT tools to perform ingestion into our data warehouse and reverse ETL into source systems as required. Familiarity with FiveTran, Apache Airflow, and Make desired
• Collaborate on the development of our ML/AI productization lifecycle
• Manage data architecture for Snowflake
• Work collaboratively to implement architectural improvements and engineering platform processes
• Establish and contribute to documentation
• Provide guidance for new application features
• Work with team members located in different time zones (US, Europe, & India)
• Build and maintain a data lineage and data dictionary
• Work with the data governance team to ensure proper validation of data used for downstream AI and BI purposes
• Ensure relevant controls are in place with our data warehouse and SaaS tools to keep costs in line with budget

Requirements

• 5+ years of recent experience with ETL/ELT, Data Warehousing, and Reporting/Analytics, and NLP
• STEM related degree is a plus
• Prior experience collaborating with empowered product teams in a fast paced, ambiguous, innovative, & agile environment
• Experience working with RDBMS, OLAP, and non-relational database systems (Aurora, Postgres, Mysql, Snowflake, Redis, DynamoDB, MongoDB, etc.)

• Knowledge graphs/graph databases, NoSql databases like Cassandra, Hadoop
• Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices
• Proficiency with AWS cloud native applications (API Gateway, Lambda, EventBridge, Glue, SageMaker, SNS, CloudFront, VPC, RDS, etc).

• Experience with in memory databases and columnar databases will be a definite advantage
• Experience with streaming technologies like Kafka
• Experience with technologies such as Spark and more modern ML libraries
• Ability to constantly learn, understand the data content other product areas produce, and give your point of view on how best to expose data
• 2+ years of Python experience
• 3+ years of Snowflake, or a similar modern data warehouse technology
• Proficiency in Google Workspace (formerly G Suite)
• Experience in SRE or DevOps approaches (Nice to have)
• Experience building knowledge graphs is nice to have
