Our Cloud Data Architect role is an essential part of our Cloud Reliability Engineering team in North America. This remote-based position will be located within the Pacific (PT) or Mountain (MT) time zones.

The Opportunity

As a Cloud Data Architect, you will be an integral part of our global CRE team, working with rapidly expanding companies in North America and across the globe. This role provides you with the opportunity to:

  • Apply your hands-on experience and skills in a consultative manner to address our customers' strategic and tactical needs related to cloud technologies.
  • Enhance your technical and interpersonal skills by tackling customer challenges in your daily work and utilizing dedicated time allocated by the company for learning new technologies and participating in internal initiatives.
  • Build your personal brand through thought leadership activities such as blogging, public speaking, and engagement in technology events.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in architecting, developing, and troubleshooting large-scale, production-ready distributed systems on AWS, selecting the appropriate tools to address business challenges at the correct scale.
  • Experience working with cloud data storage, data warehousing, and/or data lake architecture, ELT/ETL, and reporting/analytics frameworks and technologies, such as Redshift, Athena, Glue, and EMR.
  • Familiarity with designing highly available systems to serve transactional web-scale low-latency traffic using both RDBMS and NoSQL technologies, such as AWS RDS and DynamoDB.
  • A programming background with shell scripts and proficiency in one or more of the following: JavaScript, Java, Python, GO, or Rust.
  • Competence in debugging, refactoring, and optimizing code, along with the ability to determine when and how to automate tasks.
  • The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up.
  • Hands-on experience with deploying production data pipelines using orchestration tools like AWS MWAA/Airflow.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with AI/ML technologies like SageMaker is a plus.
  • Familiarity with QuickSight or other BI Visualization tools is a plus.
  • Willingness to explore and work with GCP data products.
