Cloud Database Engineer

You will be a crucial working member of multi-disciplinary, highly skilled technical teams fuelled by passion for their problem-solving capabilities and provide high quality technical solutions and services that deliver business value and drive continuous improvement across the organisation.

• Support Azure SQL and AWS RDS environments
• Configure and support cybersecurity requirements
• Ensure all database instances are updated with the latest patches
• Monitor the performance of database environments
• Preserve data integrity through the application of industry best practices
• Work with stakeholders to design and implement database solutions
• Build required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data sources using AWS and Azure SQL technologies
• Migrate on-premises corporate applications and data to AWS or Azure cloud
• Identify best practices for cloud database monitoring and management and promoting these best practices across the enterprise
• Familiarity with general CI/CD processes and support tool chains such as Git, Jenkins, and Sonarqube
• Provide technical assistance and mentor junior members of the team
• Drive Continuous improvement of AWS products and capabilities through smart architecture
• Provide leadership in large complex development projects involving application
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are important.
• A good understanding of various Virtualization and Containerization (Docker) technology
• Knowledgeable in TCP/IP protocol stack on Various Linux distributions.

You should definitely have:

• 5+ years working with database systems
• Proficient in SQL
• Able to use the Linux shell to troubleshoot issues
• Experience managing RDS and mySQL instances
• Proficient with using code versioning tools such as Git
• Familiarity with AWS Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• Experience with designing and building large scale solutions in an enterprise setting for both on premises and cloud deployments.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and/or CloudFormation
• Proficient in crafting least privilege IAM policies
• Proficient with Python scripting
• Bachelor's Degree in computer science or relevant experience
• 5 ears' experience in systems, applications, and cloud support

It would be nice if you had:

• Understands the value of automation and a desire to automate processes
• Experience working within audited environments such as SOX or PCI-DSS
• AWS certification
