Role Summary:

The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based infrastructure and services to support Steel Point’s IT and business needs. This role involves working on the deployment, optimization, and maintenance of cloud environments, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and cost-effective. The Cloud Engineer will collaborate with development, operations, and IT teams to build and support cloud-based applications and solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cloud Infrastructure Design: Design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions based on business requirements, including computer, storage, and networking resources.
• Deployment and Configuration: Deploy and configure cloud resources and services, ensuring alignment with best practices and operational standards.
• Performance Optimization: Monitor cloud environments for performance and optimize resource usage to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Security Management: Implement and manage security controls to protect cloud environments, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance with security policies.
• Automation: Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline cloud operations, including infrastructure as code (IaC) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure, applications, and services, providing support to development and operations teams.
• Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for cloud infrastructure, configurations, and processes.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, operations, and IT, to integrate cloud solutions and support project requirements.
• Cost Management: Monitor and manage cloud expenditures, implementing cost-saving measures and optimizing resource allocation.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in cloud engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience with major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their services.
• Experience with deploying, managing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
• Cloud-related certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Google Cloud Certified - Associate Cloud Engineer) are preferred.
• Certifications in automation or DevOps (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert) are a plus.
