Cloud Engineer

GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Cloud Engineer will support an Engineering team as a part of a large, complex cybersecurity, engineering and PMO contract for a federal customer, providing expertise towards systems engineering solutions and services across a variety of platforms and technology. The ideal candidate will be self-driven and have the inherent interest to continue learning new technologies to collaboratively solve problems. The Cloud Engineer will possess proven experience developing and or supporting strategic and operational capabilities around virtual (public and/or private) environments. The Cloud Engineer is proficient in identifying, designing, developing, delivering, and documenting cloud services, features and capabilities. This role will serve as a subject matter expert for Cloud technologies, market capabilities & trends and will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to transform high-level objectives into comprehensive technical requirements.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Experience providing leadership in building and launching a cloud strategy and cloud environment for use in federal agencies and transforming traditional infrastructure deployment model to maximize the benefit of the cloud infrastructure with automation and monitoring
• Experience designing and delivering cloud infrastructure strategies aligned with business objectives with a focus on migrations and deployments.
• Extensive experience in the design of cloud infrastructures using industry best practices.
• Experience in planning, designing and executing the migration of enterprise infrastructures to the cloud.
• Partner with the IT, engineering, and security teams to develop, deploy, and maintain secure cloud network architectures aligned to internal standards and current best practices
• Partner with Security and Network Engineering to design global routing within commercial cloud accounts, regions, and physical locations while maintaining appropriate segmentation of network traffic
• Interface directly with internal and external clients/vendors and serve as primary technical point-of-contact for all matters related to Cloud Operations, Cloud Connectivity & Cloud Architecture
• Be able to develop and communicate technical documentation of existing and new cloud architectures within responsible area(s)
• Architect and define solutions that ensure the availability, capacity, performance, and security of our services, such as auto-scaling, load balancers, gateways, endpoints, forward and reverse proxies, firewalls, traffic inspection, and remote access capabilities
• Integrate AWS and Azure network and security services with enterprise tooling that enable monitoring, alerting, and retention of critical event information
• Review and evaluate new AWS and Azure network services and service enhancements relevant to our current and future state infrastructure
• Be able to develop and communicate technical documentation of existing and new cloud architectures within responsible area(s) including but not limited to transport models and architectures which are TIC3 compliant
• Must be able to work across multiple operational and technical disciplines and provide direction and oversight through product development lifecycle

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Bachelor's Degree
• Ability to obtain EOD clearance
• 15 years experience
• ONE of the following certifications:
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ900) OR
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CCP) OR

And

• ONE of the following certifications:
  • Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) OR
  • Cisco Certified Network Practitioner (CCNP)

PLUSES:

• Active EOD clearance
• Current or significant previous experience supporting DHS
• Automation experience
• Linux experience
