Job Description Summary

As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure solutions for our organization. You will be responsible for deploying and maintaining cloud environments, with a focus on optimizing performance, scalability, and security. Your expertise in cloud technologies, particularly within Amazon Web Services (AWS), will be critical in driving the adoption of cloud solutions and ensuring efficient and reliable operations.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement cloud infrastructure: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy scalable and secure cloud architectures. Apply your expertise in AWS services, such as EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, and IAM, to build robust cloud solutions aligned with business requirements.
  • Manage cloud environments: Be responsible for the deployment, configuration, and monitoring of cloud resources to ensure optimal performance and availability. Implement automation and orchestration tools to streamline infrastructure management and support efficient scaling.
  • Optimize cloud performance: Continuously monitor and assess cloud infrastructure performance, identifying areas for improvement. Implement best practices for resource optimization, load balancing, auto-scaling, and caching to enhance system performance and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure cloud security and compliance: Implement robust security measures and follow industry best practices to safeguard cloud environments. Manage access controls, encryption mechanisms, and vulnerability assessments to maintain a secure cloud infrastructure. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Solve and resolve cloud-related issues: Collaborate with operations teams to investigate and resolve complex technical issues impacting cloud infrastructure and services. Develop incident response plans and participate in troubleshooting efforts to minimize downtime and maintain system reliability.
  • Automation and scripting: Develop automation scripts and templates (using tools like CloudFormation or Terraform) to streamline the provisioning and management of cloud resources. Automate operational tasks and workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce manual efforts.
  • Collaborate on cloud projects: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and data engineers, to support the successful implementation of cloud projects. Contribute your expertise in cloud technologies and collaborate on the integration of cloud services with existing systems.
  • Documentation and knowledge sharing: Create clear and concise technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, deployment procedures, and operational guidelines. Share your knowledge and best practices with team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Validated experience as a Cloud Engineer or similar role, with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure and AWS services.
  • In-depth knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS), including core services such as EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, IAM, and CloudFormation.
  • Familiarity with other cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud) and multi-cloud environments is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of cloud architectural principles, best practices, and design patterns.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to solve complex issues in distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, security practices, and compliance requirements in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Relevant cloud certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, are a plus.
