Cloud Engineering Technical Manager

The Boston Dynamics Central Software team is looking for a Technical Manager to deliver new capabilities in the areas of full-stack software engineering, DevOps, and MLOps. Come play a leading role in expanding cloud capabilities to better leverage data across our products and services.

As Technical Manager for the Cloud Engineering team, you'll play a hands-on role, directing and working alongside technical staff to develop and scale Boston Dynamics' growing data and compute infrastructure. Lead a team of Software and DevOps Engineers to deliver the cloud-connected solutions that are a backbone of our robots, software products, and internal engineering workflows. Release new front-end and back-end software systems, and then deploy them onto a cloud architecture that your team builds and operates.

The Cloud Engineering team owns a wide collection of business critical functions. We move data to and from our fielded products, letting us learn about and improve our products. We help product teams deploy reliable cloud services to create value for our customers. We manage and scale developer workflows by growing resources and capabilities inside our company for simulation, machine and reinforcement learning, and continuous integration, accelerating engineers.

Day-to-day activities

• Lead a combined team of Full-Stack Software and DevOps engineers taking solutions from design to build to operations.
• Scale, improve, and maintain production critical systems with the goal of improving our engineering infrastructure
• Track, measure, and quantify operations to make the right decisions regarding improvements
• Work with leadership to establish, align, and monitor your teams' contributions to strategic directions
• Engage stakeholders to ensure work truly meets technical and end-user requirements
• Agree upon and structure deliverables via team meetings, formal, and informal communications
• Mentor and grow team members ability to execute and deliver technical work

Required Skills

• Minimum 7 years experience as a senior technical contributor or manager in the area of full-stack software engineering and/or Cloud and DevOps.
• Demonstrated experience gathering requirements, proposing/documenting solutions, and delivering on plans, while mitigating risk
• Experience programming in TypeScript, Python, Go, or other languages
• Experience with Cloud Technologies Node.js, React, REST API design/implementation, microservices architectures
• Experience deploying and scaling compute solution on hybrid on-prem/hosted clouds
• Experience with containerization and kubernetes deployment/administration
• Master's in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
