Toyota Connected is seeking a Cloud FinOps Engineer to join our TechOps team that will have an impact on responsible cloud consumption and optimization while helping streamline our cloud spendings. 6 Month+ Contract with likely extensions
Responsibilities:
- Provide visibility into cloud cost drivers to the Engineering, Finance, and Executive teams—giving them enough information to make appropriate trade-offs between costs and business needs
- Automate cost reporting, alerting and visualization for various cloud cost metrics
- Identify and alert on cloud cost anomalies in a timely fashion
- Think independently to solve difficult data problems
- Collate, analyze, and prioritize cloud optimization recommendations and calculate potential savings
- Provide expert knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies (e.g. rightsizing, power scheduling, etc.)
- Collaborate with cross-functional product and finance teams within Toyota Connected to understand business needs and for cost optimization to develop key metrics and reporting
- Ensuring optimization recommendations go through the appropriate governance process and get actioned
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to implement cost optimization recommendations and best practices
- Utilize data to tell compelling stories by visualizing cloud usage, driving cloud cost optimization practices within product engineering teams
- Operate in a highly iterative Agile development environment
- Stay up to date with industry trends and regulations related to FinOps and Cloud Cost Optimization
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience with native and 3rd party public cloud cost management & advisory tools (AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Trusted Advisor, GCP Billing, GCP Recommender, Azure Cost Management & Billing, Azure Advisor, Azure Pricing Calculator, etc.)
- Experience with data analysis and data visualization tools (AWS QuickSight, DataStudio, BigQuery, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
- Experience with SQL Queries and Python, Go, or similar scripting language to create automations
- Strong understanding of financial systems and processes in a cloud-based environment
- Demonstrates competency with cloud-based technologies such as AWS, Google Cloud, and/or Azure
- Hands on experience utilizing public cloud APIs, Dashboards, and automation
- Expertise in cloud optimizations, including reservations, savings plans, right-sizing, lifecycle management and rearchitecture
- Experience in how to organize and analyze data, apply formulas, and get different slices of data, such as price per product/department
- Ability to convey finance terms to engineering teams and vice versa
- Experience with cloud-based financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting tools
- Ability to learn and apply modern technologies, programming practices, patterns, and methods
- Solutions-oriented with an ability to keep an open mind while finding agreeable solutions
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Experience working in an Agile environment using frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, or similar
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks/assignments
- Ability to develop healthy working relationships and collaborate with customers, peers, and leaders
- Exhibits integrity and high standards in work quality
- Values diversity and differences amongst individuals in interactions
Added Bonus if you have:
- FinOps Certified Practitioner
- We think the knowledge acquired earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Finance, Accounting, or related field would be of great value in this position, but if you're smart and have the experience that backs up your abilities, for us, talent trumps degree every time

This position is based in Plano, Texas, for hybrid work, however, fully remote work may be permitted in a pre-approved list of states. Speak with your recruiter to learn more about our remote work program.
