Cloud Operations Engineer

The Role 

We are seeking a highly qualified and talented Cloud Operations Engineer to join our Cloud Engineering team. You will report to the Lead Cloud Engineer and focus on designing, building and supporting Schonfeld’s Cloud Platform.  The team is focused on building and delivering a hybrid platform as a service allowing users to easily scale their workloads and have massive amounts of computational capacity.                                                                                                 

What you’ll do 

The Cloud Operations Engineer will be supporting and maintaining all components of the Schonfeld Cloud environment. You will deploy and manage cloud environments via infrastructure as code (IaC) utilizing cloud native IaC toolsets, services, and methods such as Terraform. You will use scripting and automation technologies such as Python to simplify and streamline deployment operations tasks. In addition, you will troubleshoot and analyze cloud service for internal Portfolio Management teams, workload distribution, and component sizing within cloud environments to ensure proper performance and cost objectives are met. You will assist with the implementation and optimization of server monitoring tools to maintain visibility on capacity, security, availability, continuity, and usage/speed metrics that fall outside optimal parameters. Lastly, you will demonstrate experience as a Cloud Engineer to include system design, documentation, implementation, testing, operational support, and configuration of cloud services and associated applications, and operate as a Cloud Service Provider for internal and external Portfolio Management teams.

What you’ll bring

What you need:

• Experience managing operational task in AWS working from issue tracking systems like ServiceNow, Jira
• Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve AWS Cloud, Linux and network related technical problems
• Experience with a variety of Amazon Services required: EC2, IAM, DynamoDB, RDS, ElastiCache, S3, and EKS, Lambda
• Basic understanding of Networking fundamentals like CIDR notations, OSI model, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, SSH, TCP, routing, switching, subnets, NACLs, NAT
• Experience creating process or troubleshooting documentation in the support knowledge base Confluence
• Experience working with Infrastructure as Code platforms (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Experience automating repetitive requests
• Openness to on-call rotation following the sun support model

We’d love if you had:

• Experience building Serverless/Event-Driven Architectures, AWS Batch, Lake Formation
• Experience with version control/Jenkins/Github Actions.
• Experience building end-to-end cloud solutions from design to implementation
• Interest in Financial Markets
• Understanding of containers – Docker
• Serve as an internal point of contact on customer escalations and ensure customer issues are resolved as expediently as possible.
