About the role
Scratchpay is hiring a mid level Cloud Operations Engineer to maintain and expand our Google Cloud infrastructure and enhance DevOps practices within Scratch's IT Teams.
Reporting to the CloudOps Team Lead, you will lead cloud infrastructure management and be an integral part of the CloudOps team. Collaborating closely with the development team, you will support ongoing innovation in our products and services, and automate continuous integration and delivery processes.
If you have a collaborative mindset, strong operational and business acumen, a solid background in software engineering, and experience with Container Orchestration, Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes, Networking, and Google Cloud, we'd like to meet you.
Location: This is a remote position open to candidates based in the EMEA region
Core Hours: The core team hours are 1 PM UTC to 7 PM UTC, and you will be expected to be available for at least 4 of those hours for team meetings, pair programming, etc.
What you'll do
- Maintain, develop and expand the kubernetes based application deployment platform (Platform 2) that will help support Scratch's growth and its infrastructure needs
- Support the rest of the engineering team with sustainable solutions and prompt responses that ensure the team can do their work adequately and safely within the confines of any compliance regulations
- Provide support with any infrastructure or data related issues that anyone at Scratch may need to perform their work
- Work with the Security team to ensure that the infrastructure is compliant with all internal policies and help the team confirm it
- Review the findings with the Security team and collaborate on an immediate resolution plan for items that require attention
- Maintain, test and develop Scratch's disaster recovery and data loss prevention plans in collaboration with other teams
- Write and maintain documentation for any infrastructure and data management processes and workflows that may require it
What we are looking for
- Extensive experience with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) in production environments
- Strong background in platform engineering, building internal developer platforms, and infrastructure automation using tools such as Terraform and Helm
- Proficiency in monitoring tools (Prometheus, Datadog, New Relic), implementing SLOs, and familiarity with SRE concepts
- Expertise in designing, implementing, and documenting architectures and solutions using Infrastructure as Code, with a focus on automation, internal compliance, monitoring, documentation, and security
- Skilled in Bash, Makefiles, and scripting languages (Python, JavaScript), and experienced with CI/CD stacks for deploying infrastructure resources, preferably using GitLab
- Some experience with server-side languages ( Node.js , Golang, Python, PHP) and familiarity with database technologies (NoSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Graph DB)
- Self-sufficient with strong planning and execution capabilities
- Knowledgeable in cybersecurity principles
- Proficiency in English; additional European languages (e.g., German, French, Spanish) are a plus
- Familiarity with US financial regulatory framework and compliance requirements in cloud and cybersecurity
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural team environment
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with global teams and stakeholders
The pay range for this role is:
70,000 - 100,000 USD per year ( Remote )
