Cloud Operations Lead

Falls are the leading cause of injury-related death among adults over 65. And yet, fall prevention and emergency response systems for older adults are archaic and ineffective. At Sage we've built a more modern way of understanding when older adults need help, including methods for residents to alert caregivers when in need of help, and corresponding software for caregivers to triage response. About this Role

Sage has a complex, hybrid architecture with system components deployed in both our cloud environment (AWS) and in diverse, sometimes chaotic edge environments. We’re seeking someone to join our small but talented engineering team to help us define and implement a vision for the evolution of our cloud architecture.

As a Cloud Operations Lead, you will be augmenting our current infrastructure automation to use IaC concepts, improving and expanding our CI/CD pipelines to ensure robust and timely delivery of application and infrastructure changes, and contributing to the evolution of our platform as we scale. You will start as a Senior level IC, and will have the opportunity to grow into a leader as the need to expand the team arises.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage Sage’s cloud infrastructure automation
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for all Sage platform applications and infrastructure changes
• Manage Sage’s platform observability and work with other teams to ensure we have visibility into it’s operation
• Contribute to the architectural evolution of the Sage platform cloud stack as we scale
• Apply industry security best practices to ensure that Sage’s platform is secure
• Become the expert in Sage’s system architecture, and be able to concisely communicate with others about it

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering or a related field
• 4+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 1 year working on and managing production cloud infrastructure
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and opinions on the right way to manage cloud infrastructure at scale
• Experience with CI/CD and opinions on the right way to design CI/CD pipelines to deploy both services and infrastructure changes
• Experience monitoring production infrastructure
• Familiarity with common web platform architectures including API design, database management, etc
• An aptitude for technical mentorship and leadership

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with IaC platforms such as Terraform or CloudFormation
• Experience migrating manually managed distributed systems in AWS to an IaC platform
• Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using CircleCI or GitHub Actions
• Familiarity with container orchestration concepts, including Kubernetes
• Experience mentoring and leading other developers

While we are an in office culture, we allow up to 2 remote days per week.

Our benefits package for employees includes competitive base compensation along with stock options. The expected annual salary range for this role is $165,000-200,000 USD, depending upon the job level, which will depend on your level of expertise demonstrated in the interview process, your experience, and your qualifications. We also provide fully-paid health and dental insurance coverage for all of our employees, along with other health benefits including vision insurance, membership to premium primary and urgent care, and online medical health providers. We also have a take as you need time off policy, in addition to 7 paid holidays and a company wide winter break during the holidays.
