As a Cloud Platform Engineer, it will be up to you to develop, monitor, and tune the platform necessary to keep some of the largest and most popular informational websites in the world running. The heart of the platform is powered by a multi-provider and multi-region Kubernetes environment and we are excited to continue to evolve.
About Your Role :

As a Cloud Platform Engineer, it will be up to you to develop, monitor, and tune the platform necessary to keep some of the largest and most popular informational websites in the world running. • Work closely with engineers creating editorial tools, web and mobile experiences.
• Implement new services, APIs, and operational monitoring functions.
• As the production service owner, investigate and resolve issues, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies.
• Provide thorough and readable documentation for all services.
• Develop APIs that allow new content sources to be processed, enhanced, and made available to customers.
• Collaborate closely with other engineers, designers, and product managers to define innovative ways to improve services and reduce costs.
• Participate in technical mentorship with engineers on the team by performing thorough code reviews, pairing, and ad hoc reviews of proposed solutions.
• Work with other teams across the organization to share and establish best practices.
• Demonstrate passion for code quality and lead by example to produce high quality, complex services and applications under tight timelines.
• About Your Contributions :
• Work collaboratively with other bright team members across many different departments to deploy and support a vast array of open source solutions.
• Provide expert advice and brilliant ideas for frequent infrastructure design decisions.
• Manage and tune cloud-hosted Linux clusters and applications, enhance security, and engineer monitoring solutions to ensure many 9's of uptime and lightning fast performance.
• Craft beautiful, simple, and rock solid Unix systems that keep your nights and weekends free from work and your work hours free to engage in the interesting and fun stuff.

About You :

• 3+ years of experience
• BS in Computer Science (or relevant experience/Github history)
• Sharp and meticulous Unix admin with deep experience or passion for internet dev and web hosting
• Strong skills with container orchestrators such as Kubernetes
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
• Advanced cloud engineering capabilities on AWS or GCP
• Queue management skills (Kafka is preferred)
• Monitoring experience (eg. Sensu, Prometheus) and the ability to troubleshoot application and network issues.
• Familiarity with interpreted or compiled languages and hosting in production (e.g. JVM tuning)
• Must be available to participate in on-call rotation and some off-hours work.

Pay Range
Salary: $108,000 - $135,000
The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
