Cloud Networking Engineer

• The Network Engineer will design, implement, maintain, and support our growing network infrastructure.
• You will be part of a team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs Responsibilities

Cloud Networking Engineer has to perform the following:

• Implement and administer VLAN, WLAN, WAN, and the network components of cloud architecture.
• Establish an appropriate data and voice network to support IT service delivery, including designing in resilience, security, and capacity Ensure network performance is maintained through monitoring, troubleshooting network problems and outages, and ensuring appropriate recovery standard operating procedures are in place.
• Configure and troubleshoot network & security infrastructure devices
• Redesign and improve the existing core network infrastructure working alongside Service Providers
• Implement processes and procedures for 1st,2nd and 3rd line support and monitoring of network components
• Implement and administer perimeter and internal network security systems such as Firewalls and IDS/IPS in on-premise, AWS, GCP.
• Own the network administration authorities ensuring proper controls in place for access rights and permissions, and processes for obtaining access by external service providers
• Manage and monitor IPS/IDS, Firewalls and other network components engage in security and regulatory processes, including undertaking remediation/hardening activities to ensure compliance to industry best practices and to gain/maintain accreditation, including ISO27001.
• Act as an escalation from the Operations team on network issues and ensure incident/requests are dealt with quickly, ensure networks are recoverable, monitored and maintained to ensure availability to SLA
• Work with the SRE/DevOps team to build and transition services from Project to Operations
• Produce appropriate and comprehensive network diagrams and documentation
• Implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information
• Maintain the security, confidentiality and integrity of information systems through compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations.

Competencies:

• Solid knowledge of cloud networking especially AWS and GCP cloud solutions.
• Experience in building, interconnecting and supporting networks into AWS Regions and Availability Zones. Including working knowledge and hands-on experience of VPC peering, Inter-Region Peering, Cloud VPN, Direct Connect, and Peering methodologies.
• CCNP certified – particularly routing & switching, wireless, security
• Proficient in Network configuration and administration
• Experience troubleshooting a range of LAN/WAN technologies - xDSL, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, LEASED LINES, HSRP, VLAN, WLAN etc.
• Cisco switch, router, and ASA firewall experience, including multiple contexts and HA
• Proficient with network protocols and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools
• Working knowledge of security devices, tools and service providers
• Experience in 3rd line, 24/7 support of network technologies
• Experience defining and implementing network solutions for internal and external customers
