Summary

The Cloud Platform Engineering Team is seeking a gifted, DevOps-minded Infrastructure Engineer to join our talented group in Boise, Idaho. We design and implement mission-critical operating environments within both public and private clouds. The Cloud Platform Engineering team enables and empowers Simplot's global application delivery and data engineering teams to operate in the optimal location for any given solution. Our platforms are developed and deployed as code using leading edge tools and practices. As a Cloud Platform Engineer at J.R Simplot, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure to ensure scalability, reliability, and security. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deploy and manage cloud-based solutions that meet the needs of our customers and support our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities• Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure within Azure, AWS, and on-premises global datacenters.• Implement and manage a diverse set of Azure and AWS cloud services (including but not limited to networking, compute, storage, database, etc.).• Treat infrastructure as code using Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell and Python.• Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline deployment, configuration, and management processes.• Implement best practices for cloud security, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance.• Monitor cloud services and infrastructure performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize resource utilization.• Collaborate with software development teams to integrate cloud services and APIs into applications.• Collaborate within the team using Git and Azure DevOps.• Participate in L3 production support and incident response for our team's globally deployed, 7x24 environments.

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience• 3+ years working within complex, hybrid-cloud environments.• Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4-year college or university or equivalent work experience• AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate certification• Azure Administrator Associate certification is a plus

Other Information• Proven experience as a Cloud Platform Engineer or similar role, with hands-on experience in deploying and managing cloud infrastructure.• Experience with AWS implementations and a working knowledge of core AWS products.• Microsoft Azure experience is bonus.• Strong understanding of DevOps principles and experience with tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Kubernetes.• Disciplined version control, build, test and release skills.• The inclination to continuously learn and to evolve your technical skills.• The willingness to teach and to mentor.• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.• A collaborative, team focus and a passion for people.• The desire to work on truly challenging, global-scale problems• Must reside in Boise, ID or be willing to relocate.
