Cloud Software Architect

Blue Cross of Idaho is looking for a cloud software architect with React experience. Expect to partner with business and multi-functional technical teams to craft highly scalable, flexible and resilient cloud software architectures that address business problems and accelerate the adoption of AWS. You'll help the organization understand best practices around advanced cloud-based solutions and how to migrate existing workloads and applications to the cloud. This is an opportunity to help shape and execute strategy to build mindshare and broad use of AWS within the enterprise. Our ideal architect is self-motivated with a proven track record in software architecture. The ability to connect technology with measurable business value, while thinking strategically about business, products, and technical challenges is critical to this role.

Though we'd prefer our architect be based in Meridian Idaho, this position has flexibility to work remotely from a mutually agreed-upon location, and/or hybrid location (onsite and work-from-home). #LI-Remote #LI-Hybrid

Required Experience: 7+ years of software engineering experience, preferably with 2-3/+ years in similar architect position to include:

• Leading a development team (i.e., responsible for reviewing code written by others, setting dev standards, etc.)
• Making important architecture and design decisions on software projects
• Experience within specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, database, security, networking, data & analytics)
• Design/implementation/consulting experience with distributed applications

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience working within software development or internet-related industries
• Experience in Single Page Application architecture
• Experience migrating or transforming legacy solutions to the cloud. Professional experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS
• Familiarity with common enterprise services (Directory Services, Information Assurance, Virtual Desktop, etc.), products (i.e., Oracle, SAP) and frameworks (ITIL, Zachman, TOGAF, etc.)
• Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT Management, and developers. High level of comfort communicating effectively across internal and external organizations
• Demonstrable ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly

Required education must meet one of the following requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, related field of study, or equivalent work experience* (Two years' relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college)
• International Degree equivalency
• Applicable certification(s) as defined by the leader + 2 years additional experience
• Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field of study + 2 years additional experience

Responsibilities

• Hands-on experience with React applications, ability to provide working solutions when needed
• Team player - Ability to work with UX/UI engineers and multiple development teams
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build tools
• Key member of the digital engineering development team, ensuring success in building and migrating applications, software and services on the AWS platform
• Educate business and technology partners on the value proposition of AWS, and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud
• Conduct one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions to transfer knowledge to other members of the digital engineering team and other IT teams
• Capture and share best-practice knowledge with other solutions architects
• Author AWS documentation specific to supporting solutions and applications
• Build deep relationships with multi-functional teams to enable them to be cloud advocates
• Act as a technical liaison between business partners, other IT teams and the digital engineering group
