Cloud Software Developer

The Capital Area Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking to fill a position for a Cloud Software Developer to develop, test, and integrate software for DHS applications. Applicant must have strong experience in software discovery, design, coding, unit testing, vulnerability scanning, and documentation in Golang and Python, and moderate experience or interest in programming in Java and Javascript. The right candidate will develop, test, and integrate software for DHS applications. We are looking for a candidate with a strong passion, background, and experience in software discovery, design, coding, unit testing, vulnerability scanning, and documentation in Golang and Python. Additionally, the candidate should have functional experience or interest in programming in Java and Javascript.

This work will place you with a team focused on an analytic environment in DHS, which enables users throughout the department to access and collaborate on their analysis projects. As a valued contributor to the team, your responsibilities will include (1) collaborative design, problem solving, and solution building with an integrated development and operations team, (2) building first-class software applications and services using the Golang and Python languages, and (3) managing distributed code using responsible commit and branching methodologies in git.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong CS Background (Python / Golang)
• Experience building and interacting with RESTful APIs

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience / familiarity with Java, Javascript, and common frameworks (Vue.js, Angular, jquery, etc.)
• Experience with containerization (Docker or similar), orchestration and management (Kubernetes or similar), and templating (Helm or similar)
• Experience with server automation and pipelines (Ansible, Jenkins, or similar)
• Experience using Linux and command line interface (CLI) tools
