Job Overview
As part of TE's Enterprise Cloud Platform Team, the Cloud Systems Engineer will work within TE's cloud strategy, standards, and framework guidelines. They will have a vital role in the design & support of TE's cloud platforms (currently consisting of AWS & Azure), focusing on the design, delivery & support of platform services such as servers, storage, load-balancers, and other cloud-native services. They will participate in project consulting with our application team, collaborate with senior team members to drive system stability through well-architected cloud services and embrace a mindset of Infrastructure as Code (IaC). We aim to deliver an immutable and secure cloud platform with repeatable and consistent cloud infrastructure services supporting our business needs.
This will be a direct report to the Enterprise Cloud Platform Team manager within TE's Global Infrastructure Solutions COE.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, implement & manage IaaS and PaaS services in TE's cloud platforms (AWS & Azure) using a combination of automation frameworks, scripts, and manual support. The typical scope of support includes core IT services such as servers, load balancers, storage, virtual private cloud containers, native cloud services, etc.
- Design & deploy IaaS VMs and dependent services in highly available & fault-tolerant configurations (multi-AZ / auto-scaling / load balancing / quick recovery)
- Identify areas for improvement & drive automation to boost the resiliency, efficiency, and efficacy of our cloud services (IaC, process/workflow automation)
- Collaborate with other technology platform teams (network, security, server, database, storage, backup & recovery) to design, support, and troubleshoot platform services.
- Collaborate with our security team to support platforms such as CSPM, WAF, Network Security, Proxies, IAM, etc.
- Provide OS-level Windows and Linux environment support, including troubleshooting, responding to alerts, and change management. The primary focus will be Linux, especially SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES)
- Action alerts, incidents, and requests for new features
- Perform OS hardening, patching, and scripted tool installation
- Create & enhance automation for things like deployments, operations, and configurations
- Create & update documentation of our cloud platform
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to cross-team knowledge sharing
- Participate in rotational on-call weekend support (critical P1/P2 issues)
What your background should look like:
Competencies & Experience/Qualifications:
- Competencies - expected to have some (but not necessarily all) of the following:
- General understanding of IT infrastructure solution concepts (DNS, network LAN/WAN, virtualization, database, Windows/Linux operating systems, security)
- Strong understanding of core cloud services such as S3, EC2, EFS, SSM, RDS, Lambda, AWS Backup, Azure VMs, Direct Connect/Express Route, Transit Gateways
- Experience supporting SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and other Linux flavors
- Ability to create/update/enhance IaC (Infrastructure as code) capabilities using native services (AWS Cloud Formation, CodePipeline, AzureDevOps) or working with industry-standard cloud scripting languages (Python, Terraform/Terragrunt, YAML, JSON)
- Working with user data scripts, SSM, and EC2 Builder to standardize images; knowledge of AWS SSM Patch manager
- Basic understanding of AI / Generative AI concepts & applications for use
- Experience with the recovery of cloud-hosted virtual machines in a large Enterprise environment that takes into account DNS, security, and domain membership; experience with configuring autoscaling and load-balanced virtual machine configurations
- Self-driven and able to work in an agile team within a large enterprise organization, collaborating with other technical towers
- Willingness to learn and the ability to grasp new concepts / build onto existing foundational knowledge
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
- 5+ years' experience in a technical role related to the Computer Science and technology field (infrastructure platforms / virtualized environments)
- 3+ years' experience with server support
- 3+ years' experience working with core IaaS cloud services
- AWS certification in System Ops, Solution Architecture, or DevOps is a plus but not required
- Experience in support of container services (Docker/Kubernetes/EKS) is a plus but not required
- Experience with supporting SAP is a plus but not required

COMPENSATION• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $93,920 - $140,880 subject to change dependent on physical location)• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
