Job Description

Flourish was founded in 2017 with the goal of helping financial advisors to better secure the financial futures of their clients. We focus on independent Registered Investment Advisers (RIAs), delivering financial products that advisors canโ€™t easily access today through beautiful, scalable, and easy-to-use technology.

Today, we work with over 400 RIAs that collectively represent more than $1 trillion in assets under management across two products: Flourish Cash, a cash management solution with more than $1B in deposits, and Flourish Crypto, a turnkey cryptocurrency offering built for financial advisors and their clients. In February of 2021, we joined MassMutual1 to continue our journey in partnering with the independent RIA community to help more people reach their financial goals.

Read on if you are interested in joining a small, highly collaborative, rapidly growing startupโ€”backed by the support and stability of a Fortune 500 company.

About You

First and foremost, you are an engineer. You are intimately familiar with designing and building cloud-native infrastructure following industry best-practices, especially when it comes to security. You are keen on automation and dislike repetitive tasks. You are not satisfied and will continually iterate on something until you feel it is done the right way. You are someone that has an ownership mentality and tries to always leave something in a better state than the way they found it. You have an insatiable curiosity and always ask: Why? You thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. You are a strong communicator, explaining complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers is no problem for you.

A degree in Computer Science or the equivalent is nice to have, but the most important requirement is significant programming experience as demonstrated by your GitHub account, personal projects, academic publications, or startup success. You possess significant experience designing and deploying infrastructure in a cloud environment in addition to strong computer science fundamentals such as, but not limited to, data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval. Finally, your accomplishments are much more important than any paper credentials.

Responsibilities
  • Being part of a passionate and creative team of engineers in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment at the forefront of high-impact, mission-critical projects that will enable us to sail into the next chapters of our cloud-native journey
  • Designing, developing, integrating, testing, and monitoring all AWS infrastructure following industry best practices and standards in a secure and highly regulated environment
  • Engineer self-service and automated solutions to enable application development teams to constantly move faster while ensuring compliance with security standards and requirements
  • Build and pilot a next generation application platform centered around Kubernetes and its ecosystem of software
  • Automating your job away
Qualifications
  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science/Math/Physics/Engineering or equivalent experience
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience
  • Designing and managing infrastructure in AWS with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools
  • Experience designing, building, and/or utilizing Kubernetes, Docker, or other container runtimes
  • Strong programming and scripting skills with one or more languages (such as Python, Go, and BASH)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a fast moving team
  • Ready to learn, but just as ready to teach
  • Excited to build and launch businesses
  • Experience deploying applications to Kubernetes with tools like jsonnet, kustomize, or Helm in a production environment
  • Experience integrating with and utilizing application metric, logging, and tracing aggregation tools such as, but not limited to, New Relic, Prometheus, Splunk, and Grafana for troubleshooting, monitoring, and alerting
  • Experience creating CI/CD pipelines and automated workflows
  • A solid understanding of the entire SDLC life cycle
  • Developing event driven automation, interfacing with and developing RESTful APIs is highly desired
  • Understanding of the SRE principles and/or a background in an SRE, operations, or system administrator role is a huge plus

At Flourish, we focus on ensuring fair, equitable pay by providing competitive salaries, along with bonus and incentive opportunities and benefits for all employees.

Base Salary Range: $138,300 - $214,950 plus bonus
