Job Description:

Job Summary: The Certified Medical Assistant I-IV provides medical assistance under the supervision of the physician, physician's assistant, or nursing staff.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

1. Assists with patient care by completing screening questions, medication reviews, obtaining vital signs, and recording height, weight, and other patient data as required.
2. Prepares exam space for scheduled procedures.
3. Documents all care provided in the electronic medical record.
4. Delivers care appropriate for the patient's age and development.
5. Ensures exam rooms, supply rooms and other areas of the clinic are clean and well stocked.
6. Cleans equipment according to instructions for use and ensures equipment has current safety inspection dates.
7. Assists with scheduling appointments, completes electronic patient messages, medication refill requests and patient forms.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
• Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
• Current certification from a national registry as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
• Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management; must be obtained while in department orientation and maintained throughout employment when working within the Behavioral Health Department.
• 4743 Certified Medical Assistant I: 0 -1.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4744 Certified Medical Assistant II: 2-4.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4745 Certified Medical Assistant III: 5-9.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4746 Certified Medical Assistant IV: 10+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
• Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management; must be obtained while in department orientation and maintained throughout employment when working within the Behavioral Health setting.
