Job Description
CNC Lathe Setup/Operator
Electro Tech Machining – Long Beach, CA
Qualifications:
1. Minimum 3-5 years lathe experience
2. Prefer 5 axis experience
3. Blue print reading skills
4. Able to setup and run concurrent jobs on multiple machines
5. Able to use standard measuring equipment such as micrometers, comparators
6. Strong Shop math skills
7. Able to work to metric dimensions
8. Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and ISO quality systems.
Core Responsibilities:
· Must be able to set up and operate various Lathe jobs with minimal supervision.
· Ability to make offsets and necessary modifications and adjustments to ensure parts conform to necessary specifications and requirements.
· High level performance in a fast-paced environment meeting with a mindset for both quality and productivity.
· Read and understand standard and geometric tolerances on blueprints, work instructions and operation sheets.
· Accurately verify and document dimensions using standard measuring instruments, such as micrometers, depth gages, height gages, dial calipers, and optical comparators.
· Troubleshoot and offer suggestions on how to resolve machining issues by collaborating with engineering on potential future changes.
· Maintain 5S practices on machines and in work area
· Cross training may be required to learn and perform other duties as necessary
Essential Functions:
· Good communication skills and ability to work with supervisors, and coworkers
· Ability/Availability to work extra hours when required.
· Excellent blue-print reading skills
· Good use of standard measurement tools
· Good trigonometry and other math skills
· 3 years Minimum CNC experience on mills/lathes including setup and operation
· Ability and experience to operate various types of CNC and manual equipment.
· Abiding by all safety regulations and Company policies
· Completing any given job at, or below, the estimated hours – including setup.
· Effectively managing tooling including fixtures, inserts, holders, and specialized tooling.
· Keeping work area clean and organized
· Minimizing scrap and/or rework
· Maintaining the preventative maintenance of the CNC mills/lathes
· Operate other CNC or manual equipment when the CNC mills/lathes are not needed
Education, Experience & Skills Requirements:
· High School diploma or equivalent
· Technical school degree a plus
·Minimum 3-5 years of experience in CNC lathe/mill machining (Fanuc and HAAS controls)
· High level performance in a fast-paced environment
Physical Limitations:
· Bending, pulling, pushing, sitting, and reaching
· Lifting up to 50 pounds
· Standing for up to 8 hours per day
