CNC Programmer
Job Description
Job Summary-
The CNC Programmer will be an integral part of fulfilling the CRT Mission and Vision of our current and future
CNC machining operations and processes. Implement, monitor, and document best practices, including tribal
knowledge and incorporation of automation (ex. In-machine Renishaw precision measurement and process
control applications). Ensure that CNC programs and processes are developed with a minimum human
interaction with the CNC program and CNC process is providing optimal quality results.
This role requires a strong technical background (turning, milling, grinding) along with project management
experience with continuous improvement mindset. The CNC Programmer must be able to work independently
and as part of a team to identify and deliver thoroughly tested CNC machining solutions.
General Responsibilities and Duties-
1. Programming vertical and horizontal CNC milling, turning, and/or grinding centers for production machining,
completing a machine assessment for all CNC equipment to ensure full customer satisfaction.
2. Recommend and implement the best machining strategies and most efficient ways to process parts
3. Review and enhance current CNC programs and processes for work instruction development within our
system. To include:
a. Automation of current CNC programs and new product repair development
b. Documenting setup information and setup instructions to yield consistent quality product.
c. Assist In Fixture/Tooling Design
4. Conduct thorough testing of proposed programming solutions.
5. Present ideas and recommendations in a clear manner to all levels of the organization.
Environmental, Health and Safety-
1. Must be able to pass a fitness-for-duty test.
2. Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes,
and hearing protection.
3. Occasionally required to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 lbs.
4. Able to operate CNC machinery and office equipment.
5. Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.

Competencies/Qualifications -
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school or trade school graduate/Journeyman machinist
2. Work experience that supports high CNC machining skill set, to include the programming, set up and operation of CNC turning, CNC milling and/or CNC grinding equipment.
3. Experience in CNC project and program development including incorporation of automation (ex. Renishaw probe)
4. Experience in creating setup work instructions for CNC processes - documenting tribal knowledge.
5. Self-motivated and detail-oriented individual.
6. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
7. Capability to efficiently complete tasks in a fast-paced environment.
8. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Proficiency in the programming and operation of CNC machines using G & M codes, including macro variables.
2. Thorough knowledge in applied mathematics thru trigonometry with the ability to calculate complex curves and angles.
3. Extensive working knowledge of aircraft components and repair materials, i.e., properties and machinability of high temperature alloys.
4. Mastercam experience
