What We Do
Collateral Operations Group Overview
The Collateral Operations group is a global team within the Global Operations & Technology division of BNY Mellon responsible for supporting our clients' collateral and portfolio reconciliations processes. Our clients include pension funds, endowments, mutual funds, hedge funds and other financial institutions using derivatives to manage their financial risks. We provide processing, inquiry and general support for our clients while working to improve and automate transaction processing systems. We are a center of excellence maximizing specific knowledge around the collateralization of complex derivative products, including swaps, options, forwards, and futures.
Team Lead Role Overview
The Team Lead will provide daily collateral management and/or collateral reconciliation support to internal and external clients on a daily basis, including monitoring collateral inflows from counterparties, facilitating margin dispute resolution between parties and verifying delivery of collateral to clients and brokers. Also included is assisting in the end to end reconciliation process, providing oversight of workflow and ensuring accuracy of information provided to all parties. The successful candidate will handle complex problem resolution and will serve as the intermediary for issue resolution with counter parties and clients. This role will involve client facing exposures. The successful candidate will also participate as a stakeholder in technology projects and enhancements related to collateral infrastructure including for new client onboarding's. Role-Specific Responsibilities (In order of importance)
- Oversight of day-to-day client service delivery and quality control
- Conduct behaviour-based interviews and on-board new team members
- Manage resource utilization/load balance, planning, and optimization
- Train and develop team members - succession planning and bench strength
- Assess operating risks and ensure proper controls
- Interface with clients and third parties on service delivery items ensuring we are exceeding client expectations
- Demonstrate trust and integrity in all that we do
- Foster a positive client relationship and appropriately manage client requests whether directly with the client or internally
- Work effectively with peers across teams and sites to create, modify and sustain best practices - demonstrate willingness to be a change agent
- Articulate, plan and execute resource utilization/load balancing and optimization across teams
- Effectively make day to day decisions independently demonstrating ability to appropriately escalate
- Demonstrate proactive engagement with team members in explaining processes and sharing knowledge - explain the "why"
- Lead effective meetings with proper agendas both internally and with clients/external parties
- Provide facts, details and proposed solutions as items arise; taking ownership to identify solution
Standard Job Responsibilities
- Works with external clients to resolve complex day-to-day issues and direct them to appropriate resources at BNY Mellon.
- Supports clients in addressing and resolving complex operational and technical issues and ensuring requests are executed. Applies advanced problem-solving skills, judgement, and experience to analyze information. Uses developed communication skills to deliver high quality service to a specialized client base.
- Provides individuals at assigned clients information related to BNY Mellon's products and services representing an array of lines of business and geographies; leverages an in-depth understanding of broader BNY Mellon services and offerings. Proactively assists clients in reviewing potential business needs and directs them to appropriate resources at BNY Mellon. May be the central point of contact for business development and assume client onboarding and/or risk management responsibilities
- Resolves complex or non-routine client issues or inquires, as needed.
- Uses in-depth knowledge of client issues and needs to contribute to business development efforts. Uses understanding of BNY Mellon products and services to best propose expanded offerings to clients for front office consideration.
- Leads and participates in internal activities and initiatives designed to improve the client experience. Helps develop process improvements.
- Supports multiple, complex client accounts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Five to seven (5-7) years of total work experience is preferred.
- One or more (1+) years working with derivatives products or 2+ years working in financial services.
- Experience in an operational area and/or client services is preferred.
- One (1) year of team lead or supervisory experience is preferred.
