Commerce Editor (Tech, Sleep, Kids & Gear), Forbes Vetted

Forbes Vetted is seeking an experienced editor to join our growing commerce editorial team. 

Working in close collaboration with relevant section editors (who cover the parenting, gear, consumer electronics & tech and mattress & sleep categories), the commerce editor will be responsible for supporting content creation across sections.This role will work with the primary editors in each applicable category to edit and publish commerce content, which includes “best list” product guides, product roundups, tested product reviews, “versus”-style product comparison articles, retailer news and how-tos. The ideal candidate should have deep experience writing and editing in one or more of the above categories, but does not need expertise in all of these subject matters. The commerce editor will report to the Forbes Vetted deputy editor and work collaboratively across verticals.

Responsibilities will include: 

• Editing and publishing new and updated content within the parenting, gear, consumer electronics & tech and mattress & sleep categories at Forbes Vetted
• Coaching junior writers and freelance contributors to sharpen their editorial skills and produce content in the Forbes Vetted voice, tone and style
• Writing stories based on SEO data, trends, seasonality and audience data, and/or updating evergreen content based on performance and seasonality
• Assisting with social and newsletter content creation 
• Leveraging SEO tools like Google Keywords and SEMrush, plus analytics tools like Looker, to help plan content and track performance against team and individual goals
• Participating in sales event coverage, including working shifts over some holiday weekends such as Memorial Day, Labor Day, Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday/Cyber Monday

The ideal candidate: 

• Has 5+ years of experience writing and editing in at least one (and ideally in several) of the following content categories: Parenting, Consumer Electronics & Tech, Gear and Mattress & Sleep 
• Has impeccable writing, editing and reporting skills as well as a network of skilled writers and PR contacts 
• Has a strong understanding of SEO best practices, plus prior experience with commerce writing and affiliate strategy; familiarity with hands-on product testing a huge plus
• Is user-focused and understands editorial independence, but can deftly balance this with the needs of the business 
• Is a team player who can multitask and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders

The annual base salary range for this role is $80,000 - $95,000
