Commerce Writer, Home & Garden
Position Summary
Yahoo is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced home and garden writer to create shopping-focused content for Yahoo. We're looking for a whip-smart commerce-content writer with a passion for home, home decor, kitchen and garden goods, along with experience in general lifestyle writing. In this fast-paced environment, you'll create daily content - from product reviews to best of articles to shopping trends, and gift guides - and then double down for exciting shopping events, including Prime Day, Black Friday, and more. This is a great opportunity to flex your product review expertise. Sense of humor, a spark, and warmth are key. Digital content experience is a must - and commerce-writing experience is a huge plus.
Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Executive Editor, Commerce, you'll pitch, write, report, research and update commerce stories that are smart, informative, engaging and meet our editorial guidelines and standards
• You'll research, report, and write long form guides and short form articles on topics in the home and garden category
• You'll be a pro on identifying experts to interview and conducting product tests.
• You'll produce numerous top-notch commerce stories a week and optimize content for SEO, engagement and revenue
• Identify daily deals and key shopping trends within your categories to create high-value content that will be wired to editors on a daily basis
• Work with other commerce writers and editors across the Yahoo ecosystem
• Participate in lively and researched brainstorms for story ideas and topic focuses, guided by data
• Juggle multiple projects and stories at once with varying deadlines

Qualifications

• 5+ years writing tech content, with a deep understanding of (and passion for) online shopping, internet trends and culture. Experienced writers welcome!
• Familiarity with Yahoo's audience and voice
• Expert-level knowledge of style, beauty and home shopping trends

The compensation for this position ranges from $72,750.00 - $151,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives. Yahoo has a high degree of flexibility around employee location and hybrid working. In fact, our flexible-hybrid approach to work is one of the things our employees rave about.
