Make your impact within a rapidly growing Fintech Company

As part of BILL’s Legal & Compliance team, this role as a Commercial Counsel, Senior will be responsible for reviewing, negotiating, drafting, and managing vendor contracts between BILL and outside vendors, suppliers and service providers.  The role will be based in BILL’s Houston office (or Draper, Utah office) and will be a key member of BILL’s Legal Commercial team.  You will have the opportunity to help grow an exciting, high-growth fintech company and collaborate with multiple internal teams in products, engineering, finance, marketing, compliance, and information security.

  • A contracts specialist who enjoys and excels at reviewing, drafting, and negotiating with vendors and working closely with the business teams
  • An analytical problem solver that uses good legal and business judgment to help create practical business solutions.
  • A good communicator who can negotiate effectively with external parties as well as interpret and explain complex contractual requirements and associated risks to internal business stakeholders.
  • A team player who can work in a distributed team environment in multiple offices and collaborate with cross-functional teams in legal, procurement, compliance, information security, product, engineering, finance, and marketing.
  • A high-energy self-starter who can manage and prioritize a high volume of vendor contracts and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • A thoughtful contributor who can enhance and implement contract processes and procedures to increase productivity and efficiency in the contract workflow and life cycle.
  • Working knowledge of data protection, information security, privacy, intellectual property, and SaaS is a plus.

We'd love to chat if you have:

  • 4-6 years of experience as an attorney working hands-on in negotiating, drafting, and managing vendor contracts (in-house is a plus). 
  • Adept and knowledgeable at interpreting contractual language and advising on commercial risks.
  • Seasoned in handling a wide range of commercial contracts with vendors and service providers as they arise, including SaaS and technology agreements for third party tools, in-bound products licenses, services agreements, consulting & professional services agreements, NDAs, benefits agreements, and various marketing agreements, among others.
  • Organized and efficient at tracking and managing compliance with contract terms. 
  • Experienced in using and/or administering a contract management system.
  • JD from an accredited law school & license to practice law in a US State
  • Industry experience in fintech, financial services, software, SaaS, or cloud services is a plus

This role is based in Texas.

The estimated base salary range for this role is noted below for our office location in Houston, TX.  Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in BILL’s bonus and equity plan. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.

Houston pay range
$128,200—$160,000 USD
