The Opportunity:
commercetools is looking for an exceptional Commercial Lawyer to join our growing Legal & Compliance team. In this role, you will manage various legal-related matters involved in selling our products, partner with our teams, and ensure commercetoolers have the best information and tools to do their jobs. Your focus will be to support the Go-To-Market teams, leading legal negotiations with our customers and imparting your expertise internally. Our ideal candidate enjoys working both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment, while having some fun along the way!
Your Mission:
- Support the complete lifecycle of contracting with our enterprise customers, including review of NDAs, support of sales during RFPs (request for proposals), and negotiation of customer agreements
- Review and update commercetools standard agreements and templates in response to changes in law, new business positions, and evolving market conditions
- Provide strategic legal and business advice on contract-related issues to a rapidly-growing and diligent sales organization, and other teams within the Go-To-Market organization
- Develop and maintain company wide contract playbooks with guidance on standards, fallbacks, and provide pre-approved alternative clauses
- Provide training to our global sales organization to encourage collaboration and understanding across the business
- Stay up-to-date on relevant industry, commercial, open source, IP, privacy, employment, and other laws, regulations, and developments to be able to give the most effective advice
What you need to succeed:
- Qualified lawyer in England and Wales
- 2-3 years of commercial transaction experience, with experience supporting a high-volume Sales organization with commercial contracting matters
- Solid negotiations experience and the ability to lead the process, focus on important issues, and successfully bring deals to a favorable close
- Experience drafting documents, policies, and emails in a precise manner that is digestable for non-lawyers
- Process-driven mindset with strong attention to detail
- Flexibility to adapt and thrive in an environment that is expanding as we grow our business
- High integrity and reliable judgment, supported by a point of view that is thought out and communicated well
- Excellent English communication skills
Nice to have:
- Experience addressing contractual/legal issues in the fields of SaaS, cloud, data security, privacy (GDPR) and intellectual property matters
