Commercial Surety Assistant

Location: Hybrid (1-2 days a week) to the Melville, NY office

The Surety Team of our Northeast Construction & Surety Practice specializes in bonding programs designed primarily for construction companies in the Northeast with a particular focus on the Metro New York region. Our experienced team of Surety professionals brings an unparalleled level of service and expertise to this evolving niche market. We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail orientated individual to join our team in New York, where you will have the opportunity to grow your experience by supporting our Surety Team with all aspects of client sales and service.

Position Responsibilities

• Work within our bond team to file bonds as needed
• Prepare bond packets for all surety related products
• Work with our team and or Accounting team with the invoicing and billing of bonds
• Support our surety Broker and Account Managers and assist in servicing our existing clients
• Assist with New Client Set-up, Bond Terminations, Bond Riders
• Assist and support underwriting in collecting information, perform data entry, analyze risk factors
• Ability to gather, analyze and organize data via spreadsheets

Experience Requirements

• State Brokers License preferred; or willingness to earn
• Licensed Notary, or willingness to earn
• Experience in a commercial insurance or surety setting preferred but not required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to form relationships at all levels
• Close attention to detail, ability to problem solve and good decision making
• The ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced while delivering high quality results in a timely manner
• A client-first and flexible attitude, with a focus on solutions
• Knowledge of complex commercial and construction surety concepts

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree, preferred

Technology:  Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with an insurance Agency Management System such as Sagitta, Surepath a plus

The national average salary for this role is $55,000 to $60,000 in base pay and exclusive of any bonuses or benefits. The base pay offered will be determined based on your experience, skills, training, certifications and education, while also considering internal equity and market data.
