Position Description:
The Communication & Policy Analyst gathers, analyzes, translates and composes technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel. Prepares briefings and content for awareness and instruction as directed by government or prime program managers. Develop and edits presentations for government presenters, ensure materials are technically accurate, error free, and engaging to the target audience. Ensures materials comply with all DHS and CISA security and information sharing requirements. Will compose technical documents including, conference presentations, talking points, proposals, and reports as assigned. Supports government personnel at conferences and meetings, including staffing exhibitor booths to engage with attendees. Position will also support virtual engagements. Position requires substantial travel and periodic monthly onsite logistical support to ship outreach equipment, therefore this requires flexibility in work hours and schedule as a result. Position requires high degree of professionalism, ability to produce error free work, ability to liaise with various stakeholders, take direction and execute as instructed, and close attention to detail. Knowledge of DHS conference requirements, government travel, and event logistics is a plus.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Develop a variety of communication plans to support the mission of OBP.
- Develop and execute a strategic stakeholder engagement and outreach plan to support programmatic goals.
- Attract, engage and maintain relationships with stakeholders, ensuring an understanding of their communication product needs.
- Develop project plans and schedules to ensure conferences and other engagements are prepared for and executed as expected by the client.
- Produces communications collateral that follows DHS and CISA style guidelines and adheres to plain language standards.
- Conducts research to identify stakeholders and the target markets’ needs, trends, communication gaps, etc.
- Provide writing and editorial support for various communications products including, PowerPoint presentations, talking points, and other collateral materials.
- Develop and provide ideas for compelling visuals, including infographics, flyers, videos, GIFs, and other graphics.
- Travel to, set up, and provide onsite support for clients at conferences and meetings.
- Prepare, ship, assemble, disassemble, and return conference display materials including informational materials, exhibitor displays, and other equipment.
Required Skills:
- Active SECRET clearance required.
- Associates degree.
- 2-4 years of experience in communications or marketing related fields producing content for publication or presentation.
- Planning and scheduling large events and meetings, including advance logistics required for displays/booths at large conferences.
- Experience preparing presentations and talking points for government clients, experience ensuring compliance with security, style, accessibility, external affairs, and Section 508 requirements.
- Well versed in Plain Language and other government writing styles.
- Proficient in using Zoom and Teams for meetings and webinars.
- 2+ years of writing for internal and external stakeholders (e.g. client reports, talking points, public newsletter articles, public PPT presentations).
